Music Creator stops

Hi friends,
I'm working on several projects in my Music Creator 3 on Windows 7. All has been well until I opened a project I have not opened in a long time. Suddenly, the project stops Music Creator. When I open it, I get the message "Cakewalk has stopped working." the only option it gives me is "Close the program."
So I close and open again and the same thing happens, sometimes it lets me play the project and even make changes but as soon as I stop the play, it stops again. All other projects open without trouble but this one specific one, which is an all MIDI file. The other projects are a mix of MIDI and audio. any help out there?

    try removing any VST FX you have, one at a time.
    if that doesn't work, try opening MC in "safe mode" by holding the SHIFT key down while clicking on the MC icon.
