Music software

Hi everyone,

I am in a slight dilemma. I write songs in my spare time and dont have a clue on how to convert these lyrics to a song with music and burn to a disc. I am looking for some software that I can sample music and put my mic in and put my words to music!! What is the best package for beginners at the cheapest of cost (but still needs to be good), any recomendations?

It depeds how you want to make music. Are you a singer or a composer. What instrument do you play? If you play any midi instrument you can buy any Cakewalk Product from Sonar to Cakewalk Pro - depending on your budget. All are good. You may first prepare the soundtrack of several instruments, and then add your voice on it.

If you do not play any instruments, what i suggest is that you tinker with audio loops a bit, go over to acidplanet.com and there you can get a basic education on loop based recording, and bear in mind that any of the curent cakewalk titles will work with loops, MC, home studio and Sonar.

Your right I don't play any instruments, so on MC for instance am I able to work with pre-recorded loops? or do i need to add in my own? See I don't know how to compile a song from sampling and I thought MC might do this all for me with pre-existing beats and loops (You can tell my technical knowledge isnt up to speed!!)

MC will do what you're trying to accomplish, but it's probably not the best tool for that job. do you need to add your own? with MC the answer is YES - it's not a program that has a bunch of loops available for you to grab and rearrange, edit, etc.

If I understand everything correctly, Kinetic might be a better CW product for your needs. I've never tried Kinetic, so I'm not sure and I can't really endorse it, but it would be worth looking at.

Prolly not for kinetic, because it won't allow audio recording. MC or something like energyXT might do the trick. Project5 would be perfect, of course the money issue always comes up.

Here is what i would do, MC will work just fine, while it does not have the very best looping tools it does asic loping very well. all one has to do is import an audio loop and copy and paste to his hearts content, I would also go like i said over to acidplanet.com and download the free version of acid, it has some right nice features for looping, between the two you can do a ton of work. Next get on the web, and do a search for acidized loops and you will ind a ton of them both for purchase and even some for free, then once you have registered at acidplanet.com, you can download the weekly free 8 packs of loops, the nice thing is with that program, you can slice up the ones you have and make others, then built track and once they are done import, them back to MC3 and add vocals and process till you like the results
