The 4th drummer, is probably to allow the drummer in the middle to play more keyboards is my guess and take some of the load off Robert Fripp.
 
Starless and Bible Black, and the version on the Toronto CD is even better, and when Mel takes over at about 8:30 or so, is even better, stronger and simply divine!
 
Sorry Rain, but as much as I like DG, I will take RF any time. And his work on the side with Peter Hammill, Eno and others is even better and sometimes crazier!
