Muted Selection
OK so I have accedentally muted a selection of MIDI data and I am not sure how I did it or how to get it back. It is a single MIDI track that in the PRV shows the notes as outlines up to a given measure and then normal after that. When playing the file, it is quiet up to the measure where they look normal and plays fine. How do I un-mute this selection? I am using Producer X1d Expanded.

Is there more than one clip in the track? If so you may have muted a clip - select the clip with the muted notes and press the Q key. If not then it may be something to do with the new smart tool which I'm not really familiar with.

With the smart tool; select all muted notes and alt+right click on one of them :) I've stumbled upon this problem myself when drawing notes with the smart tool in PRV. ..First holding the alt-key to be able to draw.. Then suddenly wanting to delete one note (with a rightclick) but trying to delete before releasing the alt-key.. :)

Check the velocities of the notes that aren't sounding, they might have been inadvertently set to zero, this would explain seeing the outline of the notes but no sound. That's if SToons suggestions don't work of course. (It's easier to accidentally mute a clip than drag a whole bunch of velocities to zero, but you never know)

Yes, there is more than 1 track, the other track plays fine all the way thru. Highlighting the affected area and "Q" opens the Quantize option window nothing to do with mute options. Velocities show to be fine. The MIDI track view is a single clip but in that view, events are white and not light blue like the remainder of the track. ????

it is possible to mute clips while the rest of the track is fine.... I'm not at the DAW right now..... but.... look it up in the manual.... search for ; mute clips and it will be in there somewhere..... sorry I can't offer more precise help at this time. I did that accidentally and there was some sort of icon/indicator on the clip which let me know it was muted.... scared the daylights out of me till I figured out what I had done and reversed it.

vlab in Sonar X1, the mute clip key is now "K" .... as in ..... V Does X1, like previous versions, have different keys depending on the view (ie. different hotkeys in PRV vs track view)? To the OP, you can always mute/unmute a clip using the command instead of the hotkey but if you say the track is a single clip and only some notes are muted then this likely isn't the case.

SToons, I think the intention for X1 was to standardise all the hotkeys so you only use the same command whatever view you're working in. It also introduced the idea of "key clusters" where related commands are grouped together for a more intuitive workflow. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any ambiguities - but this doesn't mean there aren't any!

I re-recorded the 24 measures of song in question. Never had any of these ideas work. It plays now but I would still like to know what might of happened.

It was not mentioned yet, you could use the Event List view to inspect/edit everything that is going on in a MIDI track in a simple list format.

was it a whole MIDI-clip that was muted? I just thought it was a section within a MIDI-clip. to mute / unmute whole clips use the erase/mute tool (press F10 until you see an M on the tool) then click the muted clip

It was just the first 24 measures of a single MIDI clip. I gave up and re-recorded the part. I still have no idea what might have happened. I can't go back and read the event view now as it is all gone now. Thanks for all of your suggestions but I would still like to know what it was so as not to do it again.
