My ICD Done Saved My Life....

I have an Implanted Cardioversion Device in me....a couple of weeks ago I was headed down the street from work when I felt really light headed...then blacked out. I came to with a few people around me..a couple of them were co-workers...they got an ambulance to take me to hospital to get me checked out...

Well...because the ICD clinic was closed..this being the weekend ..I was discharged and went back to work on that Monday to get some reports finished...on Tuesday...get chest pains...oh oh..back to hospital I go....well..this time they found slight elevations in 2 enzymes used to diagnose tissue damage to the heart...the ICD visit..which occured on Wednesday morning..showed that, yes, my Defibrillator did kick in and saved my life....

To anyone who has to look into this possibility for themselves I would strongly suggest getting it done....And look after yourselves.....

The space you have will always be exceeded in direct proportion to the amount of stuff you have...Thornton's Postulate.

I'm glad to hear that the ICD works as advertised and that you'll be around to make some more music.  Count your blessings and I'll head your advice about taking care of myself.  Thanks.

Man, that sounds like a close call!

Any clues to what may have triggered the attack in the run up?

Sounds to me that you may be a good candidate for the Bubba diet, no?

I thought was gonna identify with this thread after reading the title by my close call was with somebody elses IUD malfunctioning.

    My mistake.
    (again)

@Jonbouy:  That's why I went on a diet several months back....I used to weigh in at 325lbs at one point...now I am at 225lbs...still need to lose about 35lbs to get where I should be...and actually, it was not becan that got me..it was all the ice cream and cakes and pies,  oh, and chocolate bars......hence my diabetes setting up residence....the funny thing is that I always had a left bundle branch block..which causes the signals in the heart to become slowed up..then messes up any real rhythm that should be there.

When I had my heart attack last spring the heart just stopped beating...after it went into a ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation scenario...I have a stent put in place in an artery just under my heart...and then a few months later they put the ICD in...so I've been steadily losing the weight since then

As  it is ..they also changed the medication I was on...so that now my heart beats more regularly instead of going into beating at over 160 bpm ...which sets it up for VT/VF scenarios...

Well it sounds like you are well onto your part of the bargain.

WTG on the diet, that's pretty impressive.

More peculiar, like "Mooch Twister".  The one that makes onlookers wince.
