MM100 - I don't speak much to high highfalutin rich folk. If they have one it's antique in a glass bubble and just to look at and admire. Just sayin

Jonbouy I have this one Italians from outer space but likewise I have nothing to play it on. Wow, that just brought back some happy memories for me there Jon Long ago, when I was pretending to be a Biological Sciences student, my room-mate used to have a couple of ALTP albums and he used to play them all the time. I remember Heads Down No Nonsense Mindless Boogie was a particular favourite of mine He also got me into the Bonzo's, and the quite excellent Blues Band. In return I let him listen to a lot of punk and 'metal.

I just listened to this and that bass player was fantastic. He wrote all My performance reports and he walked on water! P.S. do I still have to say that?

Am I the only one who stil has a turntable??? Sounds like it. I can't even find a neighbour with one. I keep meaning to pick one up from a boot fair (garage sale?) or a USB one off eBay but haven't even got around to that yet let alone transfering it to digital. One of these days I'll get around to it... (or will I?)

I have a Technics turntable. I think the cartridge may be bad. Does that make me a bad person?

bapu I have a Technics turntable. I think the cartridge may be bad. Does that make me a bad person? Not in itself. What you did to the cartridge that made it bad may be a factor though.

my last turntable was stolen from a break in at my house in 1989 or 90. It was an upright with linear motion tracking and a motorized door. I don't remember the brand. I never replaced it after it was stolen (along with my other stereo equipment).

I have a turntable. It even has S/PDIF output, but I was using the ADCs on my sound card because I think they sound better. It's not set up at the moment. It wouldn't be too tough to get set it up. I'd be willing to give it a shot, Bill. Like Julie, I've done a few LPs and have hundreds I could do. I concentrate on the ones that aren't available on CD. I'm slightly, hesitant about shipping items that can't be replaced. If we were geographically closer, I would have made offer right away. I was hoping someone in your neck of the bayou would have been able to do it.

I'm not sure if anyone listens to big band music anymore. I get a kick out of hearing the old recordings cuz it brings back the memories of being in the studio with those guys. It was such a wonderful time in my life and I really loved the guys. The song Basically Da Blues was the opener we used on one of the tours in the early 80's. I tried to find the photo's of those days and there are a lot somewhere.

I used to listen to these guys at a local restaurant. A few of the band members were friends of mine. The show was quite a trip, too. There were teens in zoot suits dancing along side mature couples in tuxedos--and everything in between! http://www.amazon.com/Don.../ref=ac_dpt_sa_nc_link I haven't done much big band listening in a few years. I guess I should break out the CD and give it a listen. There's nothing like listening to that stuff live. With the exception of Rbh, it's starting to look like California has a monopoly on turntables. Hmmm...

I still have the Pioneer turntable and amplifier I purchased with my first couple of week's wages. Here's the amp: A couple of years back, I managed to purchase a new cartridge/stylus and a new drive belt for my turntable from a decent hi-fi store in town; I believe they cost me more than the turntable did back in the day!
