My NAMM list is made.
First time I'm doing it this way. I downloaded the complete exhibitor list and made my list of the ones I want to see (specifically). Usually I wing it and then I get home and say "Why didn't I stop in at <xyz's> booth/room?" Of course I'm going to try and walk all the entire (main) areas in honor of our departed friend Jan.

I've got a free pass to get in, I just have to come up with a legitamit business reason to be there one of these years.
We ship sound rooms out of our building on Friday, for 8-10 of the booths. Not enough of a reason for me to follow them, however. I need to start working on an excuse now for next year.

bapu, I emailed you my own list-in-progress. I'm going to try and make it to the Spirit of Zeppelin concert Friday night. Supposedly, it's not a tribute band but rather an original act that "nails" (their word) the Zep sound. Could be good. At any rate, it's free and there will be snacks.

Oh, and also the Keyboards and Virtual Instruments roundtable hosted by our own Craig Anderton. That's at noon on Thursday, room 203A/B, Level 2. You should go, so I'm not the only heckler in the audience.

Michael, you've got the pass and that's the hard part. Maybe you can't get your company to foot the bill, but I guarantee you'll have the time of your life even if you have to cough up the cash yourself. All you need is airfare - it's warm in LA so you can sleep on a bus bench, and many booths have snacks.

Actually, that inspires a legit question. I don't recall what Southern CA weather is like in January even though I lived there about 45 years ago. Is a light jacket sufficient? Would wearing a sweater be ... um ... sweaty? Should I pack an umbrella? Advice on this welcome.

It can vary. I tend to wear a lightweight shirt but bring a coat. If you can't take a little rain bring a small umbrella. It doesn't always rain in January but you never know.

Dave I can't find any info on that concert. Is it "in" NAMM or nearby? Also, did you get my PM about my new email address?

Ha! You got that right, Bit. If I get spotted on show site, I might get put to work anyway though. I work for the company that does NAMM. The last time I was there was maybe 8 years ago. Because we were there before the doors open and after they close, you get to walk around and really check everything out at your leisure, with out the crowds. The last time I was there I met Gene Larrivee and ended up spending some time with him after show hours. As a result, a couple years later, I purchase one of his rosewood models. I certainly do miss it and need to make my way back.

Let's see... The news channels are saying that California is going to receive 10" of rain (the average for an entire year!) over 16 days (San Diego got 2.2" yesterday). I'd say you probably should bring fins and a snorkel!

It never rains in California. And if that wasn't true, the FTC would not allow anyone to say so in a song. Knock wood, but it has never rained once while I was at NAMM. Knock, knock, knock on wood, Dang, I've probably just jinxed it. It does get chilly in the evening if you miss the last bus and have to walk 8 blocks and each block in Anaheim is a half-mile long and you only had bar mints for supper and you'd accepted a stranger's offer to share some "medicinal" marijuana that turned out to be surgery-grade knockout dope that added 20 lbs to each foot. At least, that's what I'd imagine, if anyone was really that stupid.
