My Senior Year book
I was sent a link to my senior High yearbook. The first thing I did was look up my girlfriend cuz I haven't seen her since 72'. OMG! She was absolutely gorgeous! Blonde hair parted down the middle. Holy Moly! She broke up with me and it was the first time I had a girl do THAT to me. We went together for a year. WOW

Hi, This is, one of the saddest things in my life ... our High School, Madison's West High School was totally screwed up and the fuddyduddy westside stuck up fauxrichladies, did not like the people that came from Central High when it closed. These people were closer to the UW, and way more liberal, wore different clothes not likely to be found at Sears, and smoked a little dope sometimes, instead of hiding in the bathroom to steal a cigarette, like they did at West High, or worse ... lie to everyone that they were virgins! In the end, the lady that was in charge of this ignored all the graduates that came from Central High for at least 1968 and 1969 at that school, and any attempts to get the school to remedy that have been totally ignored, and not a single call or email ... and it's not like some of the folks from that school are not known over the Internet. But most of the folks that graduated are still invisible. I have only been able to connect with one of them in the Bay Area and even then, Richard, as cool as he is, is still distant ... it's like ... nothing ever mattered to anyone, and besides, who cares! There was a young lady I had some fun with that last summer in there, by the name of Terry ... that I wish it had been a better time, and I had more English to tell someone off ... her older sister got pregnant and the guy went off to VietNam ... and I have no idea what happened to him, or her for that matter ... and the mother was ballistically protective of her daughter and called me a dirty alien that she did not want to even touch her daughter or family, and get the hell out of her house ... whereupon I went to Richards and heard Crosby Stills and Nash (1 and 2) to soothe me, but I knew that Suite Judy Blue Eyes was mostly **** for everyone, except the rich and the famous! For the record, her and I stayed honest to the danger and did not abuse the priviledge or the "law" ... but the total dishonesty and ugliness that the mother and sister displayed was, for me, and for Terry I'm sure, one of the ugliest things I have ever seen in my life. The sheer hatred and accusation about foreigners was so ugly ... I've often tried to find Terry ... and would love to at least say something ... now that she is long and far and away from all that. But it was hard for an 18 year old to even have any idea what the woman was screeching about ... that lacked everything in the book you could think of! Quite an awakening, having been in America only a couple of years to have to see and swallow that! But the hippocrisy surrounding West High and its "straight" liars ... yeah ... I won't miss them a whole lot anyway ... they were not worth looking at, regardless!

This would be the year of my 40th as well. Unfortunately, in our school, there were 3 groups in the senior class..... the "In crowd" the "other in crowd" and then the rest of the dregs of the class including the stoners and special ed kids, and future criminals and cops. The In crowd has held several reunions and I've not been invited to any of those. The other in crowd, none of whom were invited to the "in crowd's" reunions, actually had a 34th reunion and since they were smaller in number, also reached out to the dregs. I did get an invite and went. None of the In Crowd were in attendance. Back in high school, they spelled my name wrong in the year book and the other crowd reunion folks didn't bother to fix it. Since the re-unions are in NJ (the large gun free zone) I have no desire to travel to the state, so it bothers me not that I'm not invited. Besides... after not having been in touch with any of those people who didn't like me in school, and not even talking to them once in that time..... who are they anyway now? Fat, balding, ugly, and still as obnoxious as they were back in school.....no thanks.

Funny stuff GH! I must admit that I did enjoy going back for my 10-year reunion because I had bulked up and looked great plus I'd been making some very decent money so seeing some of the snobbier classmates (some of whom were still working at fast food joints while going to college) was enjoyable. But, for the most part, my life has been better off without interacting with them so there's no reason so start now.

craigb My 30th is this year - not going to make it! Don't be defeatist. I never thought I'd make my 30th either. Now here I am bouncing along as a spritely 54 year old. (well, mebee not bouncing or spritely but apart from that...) I wouldn't go to a school renunion. I hated it first time round and spent years trying to avoid many of the people I knew at school. Why would I want to give all that up?

Yeah, they get a little sad after the 30th or so. Strange thing, within the last two years I've reconnected with people I haven't seen in 30 - 40 + years. a lot of them still have an impression of me of when they knew me back when. You should go to these things with a new outlook and try to catch up and revise "knowing" each other. Some of those people have become people you wouldn't associate with. Time changes everyone.

I had 20 plus people from high school try to reach me on Facebook. Why oh why did I ever sign up in that cesspool? Anyhoo ... I ignored all of them. Some of them never spoke 2 words to me the entire time we went to high school together, why the hell would I want anything to do with them now? The people I went to grade school with, K - 8, I'd like to see again, but the ones that were bussed in from other counties for 9 - 12 I could care less if I ever saw again. I never really associated with anyone in high school anyway. I played out every weekend with a friend of my family who was a cop. I started playing out my freshman year. Never went to a single HS function, dance, prom, anything else, I was having way too much fun for that stuff. ;)

I have a few of them on my FB page.... but only really talk to one of them. In school, she was in the "Other In Crowd" and didn't talk to me but now she has become quite the conspiracy theory freak/nutcase, so it's always interesting to see what new thing she has found out about this nefarious gobbermint. The other guy was actually part of the stoners and hung out with us.... the other group of stoners.... he is black and dated white girls..... quite the controversial fellow at the time....also a drummer who called him self "Mellow Melodious Moon" He always had good weed. His dad was a preacher. Now..... he's a preacher now like his dad was and..... married to a white woman and still a good friend of mine. His family lives in Fayetteville about an hour south of me, When they came to visit the family reunion a few years back, we got together at a restaurant in Raleigh..... ate some good ribs and steaks and had a really good time catching up on the events of the years. The rest of those folks...... nahhhh just not interested. There is one other friend who was a good friend to me in school...we went to a few concerts and hung out. We talk by phone every now and then. He lives on the left coast.

What you guys are saying is exactly why I don't have a Fakebook account. It allows hundreds of old annoyances and relatives to usurp my free time just to let me know they're going shopping or something. Hey, I've spent the better part of my life trying to get away from these very same people! LOL!

We've had some good reunions in my small hometown. The best ones have been the multi-year, for anyone who graduated in the 1980s. The very first reunion (5, 10?) was eye-opening, as I wasn't expecting people to hold onto their grudges from freshman year. It can be a groove re-connecting with people, even if you didn't interact all that much back in the day. I was surprised that people told me, "You look exactly the same!" Okay, I pretty much weigh the same, but I didn't have a pony tail and a goatee back then.

Book of the Face is OK..... If they even bother to find me and submit a friend request..... These days, I'm more like that guy in the TV commercial right before he says "Grenade" and runs.... My un-addressed friends list is pretty long. I delete the list every so often. Others who were in the list get culled and if they become a bother, they join the blocked list. Most don't even know they were unfriended. Oblivious. just as well......

i ditched my 20 th this year, mainly because the commitee that does it,was overthrown by a buch of people who were the class bullys...you know what i mean. it was being run by a group of people who were always thoughtful and nice. this year they were having it in lawrence mass. aka-combat zone of massachussets. they found the cheapest place they could and charged 50 bucks a head. my facebook page was lighting up with stories of stolen cars, black eyes. glad i missed it
