My computer crashed and now all the tracks in the project I was working on are "silent"?
Please read this i will try to keep it short. I use a tascam us-800interface with some bx5a deluxes on my laptop which runs windows 7. Things go pretty well for running windows 7 but whenever i hook the interface up crashes occur routinely, about 25-35 minutes in. This was never a problem, but today my laptop crashed something fierce and once it restarted and i opened the project i was working on, i got a dialog box titled "silent buses detected." It says the following tracks and buses are assigned to a silent hardware output (my Us-800), and that they will remain silent until reassigned to an appropriate output. Every track and bus was listed on there, and though my laptop restarting itself usually solves the problem, for whatever reason its not working in this case, I cant even reassign the track outputs, clicking on them does nothing. I know that my interface is working because if i insert a new track and drag a midi clip down there it works fine, but will i have to do this to every track and delete the old messed up tracks, or is there some way to fix this? If there isnt, what can i do to stop crashes?

"I cant even reassign the track outputs, clicking on them does nothing." I don't really get this. You click on a track output and it does nothing? There's no options? There's no drop down? There's no output box? Did you check the output of the buses, master included? Whenever I get that warning the bus outputs have been reassigned or unassigned and I need to assign them to the proper outputs. Also try the MIDI panic button next to the Audio engine button under the Now Time Module.

If the OP is running a "non-64bit platform" on a 64 bit OS and not running it in 32 bit mode, all sorts of strange mischief can take place inside the box.

I have noticed this and believe its in your routing being lost or not present when re-launching the project. Just need to make sure everything you where using plugged into your computer when making the tracks are ON and connected PRIOR to launching X1. Close all the way out and go back in after verifying power and connections on your components are on and good. (This is why it would work when rebooting) Sounds like youll have to resolve the issue between your computer and the interface with the crashing before anything else but to keep going on the project probably your above solution is all I can go with. Let us know what ya come up with.

Sorry for lack of details, my laptop is a toshiba something, win7 64 bit. I installed X1 studio in 64 bit. What i mean when i say clicking on the track outputs does nothing, i mean nothing happens, the dropdown menu doesnt come up. like when your internet freezes and you click on it and nothing happens? idk why, i can still adjust input and midi channel just fine. So far my solution has been to insert a new track for each track that malfunctioned, dragged down the midi clips, and deleted the old tracks. that works fine, but i dont want to have to do that over and over every time i leave my interface hooked up too long... About drivers being updated, well the driver disc my tascam came with never actually worked, it was hell trying to get started on windows 7, i ended up having to wait like 2 months for tascam to release the drivers on their website, and even then like i said i get routine crashes.

How much Memory is installed on the Toshiba. The only thing I can think of right now as bad as it sounds would be to try 32bit version. Not sure but 64 Bit might be a bit much for the system. Do you have any indications as to how the Toshiba is performing internally? Also buffer sizes (Playback & Record I/O and bit rates between the two (trying zero in on the 25-30 minute in crashing), what are ya set at. Im thinking put the Playback/Record I/O buffers at 512, match X1 and Tascam Bit rates, (make sure WIFI is disabled and Antivirus is OFF) get it running past the crashes, try a fresh run, save and see if problem duplicates. Your issue with the drivers is beyond me though. This would be about my limit on being able to help. Keep us posted though please.

I just sat down and duplicated the Silent Busses Fault just to verify what Im thinking. (Computer performance/Interface-Tascam loosing connection?) Fresh system power up (coldboot), everything turned OFF except for Computer. Launched a project I am working with in X1. X1 is not recognizing any sound card/interface so this fault is generated and all the probs you describe are there to the best of my knowledge. Hope this helps somehow. Keep us posted Thanks
