My first Sonar recording...

I'm about to redo it, with new found knowledge? Tools? etc?

This one has never been on my RN site? It was lost on my old Soundclick site (soundclick SUCKS AZZ!)

So here's the original version from several years back?

I don't believe in love...

There are many problems with the mix? And some with the production?

So I present it mainly for your enjoyment...

I'm about to redo it with a new appreciation for the software? And production/mixing/etc...

Consider this the prequill? Please listen? As the new version will be a comparison based on this initial rough understanding of how this **** works?

Thanks.

Robby.

He said love
It'll make ya do anything
for somebody
as he slowly slipped off the ring

I need love
But I don't want to hurt anymore
too many people
Too quick to walk out the door Ohhh

I don't believe in love no more
It's never there when I need...

Love finds you fallin for the floor
It cuts and laughs as you bleed...
It's all that I'll never need, yeah.

Love
Is someone to have and to hold
I believe that love
is there for two to grow old
Oh but I, I can't stay with you anymore
she said I'm leavin...
And she turned and walked out the door
Ohhhh

I don't believe in love no more
It's never there when I need...

Love finds you fallin for the floor
It cuts and laughs as you bleed...
It's all that I'll never need, yeah.

(break)

I don't believe in love no more
It's never there when I need...

Love finds you fallin for the floor
It cuts and laughs as you bleed...
It's all that I'll never need, yeah.

Yeah I wrote and performed this shortly after the ex left and took my infant son away from me... So there was some emotion coming through in the performance. It's going to be a challenge to reproduce it. Thanks Tony!

To me this has an REO Speedwagon vibe for some reason.

Listening again this AM, I may just leave it alone :-) I can't remix it because I lost the original project in a crash :-(

Apart from the drums, I would leave the rest alone Robby, I like it as it is. It has a real raw quality too it. Love the vocals and harmony as usual. But the guitars are fantastic.

Like this song a hell of a lot.

Well, I can't make any mix comments because I'm listening on my laptop (back is hurting no studio today)

But song wise I was really digging it.   Very strong melody and vocals.

This has to be the best vocal I've heard from you, Robby! Don't mess with this one too much, it is almost perfect as it is. I agree with Mstodge's post.

The mix is really good.  It has this "vintage" sound and if you like that then leave it alone. But if you want it more modern then you could re-mix it.  I think it can go either way.  The vocal do sound a bit muted.  It is a very good song BTW.

I was actually replying to Robby, but since ya asked, I took a listen to your tune. The guitar sound is huge, but it swamps everything else. The vocals scrape against it from time to time, but they actually sound pretty well balanced, for the genre. I would look into notching out a -2db cut with a .8 Q around 800 hz from the guitar when you are singing, and returning it flat when there is no vocals.
I also might add some compression to it. And you have to re-do the drums with a fatter kit. They are just so puny against the guitars.

I like the tune, Robby, and your voice does sound great on this EXCEPT as I've said a bunch of times, you certainly don't need that much processing.  I know you can't do anything with the old project.  This could be one of my favorite songs.  I would re-record it totally and let "the Missing Person engineer (FT) give you some help with the vocal mix.  You know I've always been a huge fan of your vocals.  All of the vocal treatment on your voice is like covering up a nice lawn with rocks.   Please take that with the deepest respect.

Robby, this is another great ballad with an equally great vocal performance (no surprise there),  It took me a while to get to it, but it was worth tracking it down.  I hope you do re-do because the tune is definitely worth it, and, if you do, I'll be looking forward to hearing it.

Ya it's a hard call on to re do it or not, , It's excellent in a vintage kinda way just as is, I have a lot of material that falls into the same category. It was recorded on 4trk cassette, Production could be a lot better , but you never seem to get the performance energy back. You sound a bit like Rick Roberts of Burrito brothers fame.

Well up to your superb high standards.

I have to echo the others on your excellent vocal delivery: There's a lot of emotion coming through your voice.

The mix sounds great on my speakers.

Must be honest and say this is one of my least favourite genre's of music, but i can still admire an excellently crafted piece of work, which this most certainly is.

    Good one Robbie.
