My first collaboration Song

https://soundcloud.com/john-vere/talkin-bout-my-baby

I posted this a few months ago and the keyboard parts were kinda noticably lame because, that's right, I'm a guitar player and midi editing can only do so much turd polish.
Steve Cocchi agreed to pitch in and here is my first Sonar collaboration. Big huge thanks to Steve! The song now comes to life with real keyboard parts and very cool piano solo near the end.
Using all my new Air instruments including Strike2, DB 33 and Mini Grand.
Only plugs are Sonitus Compressor and Delay, Lexicon reverb and the BT brick wall on the master.
No cheating was done on this song other than the drum track , I played my parts end to end, no overdubs. I think Steve did the same. Only the drums are quantizied etc.

Really nice production on this one Johnny. The blues style keyboard playing does bring the track to life and your guitar parts are nicely recorded.

Sounds good, Johnny!   I think those AIR synths fit into the mix quite well.   I also like the guitar fills you've woven in.

I give it a thumbs up.

Really nice job on this tune that kind of blends a little country feel into the blues element.  A nice combination.  Fine job on the vocals and guitar, John and I loved Steve's solo too.  Really nice work guys.

Ha ha , If you hear country in a Blues song that's because Country once was the Blues :) And modern country steals from everything these day's.

My definition of the 2 is -Country = Major Pentatonic scale, The Blues = Minor Pentatonic.
I think we both stuck to the minor in this case.

Nice fresh and lively blues rock sound. It sounds like everyone had fun playing on this (...even the drummer ; ) )
The mix is just right for this style of music. Well done!

    Cheers,
    Daniel

Very cool sounding tune with some SERIOUS SWING sounds!!!!!!

I can't comment on the mix because I know nothing about mixing except the bass and treble keys and a little bit of reverb.

Not critics from me, but maybe you could sound a little bit madder and upset? But then again that's the art of a great vocalist and I am not one so I can only say : Sounds better than I could do.

Enjoyed hearing this one very much! The swing feel vibe was really cool!!!

    Thanks for sharing!!!!

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback.

This is about as hard core blues as it gets.
The walking bass line is the main riff really.
For those who have never worked in this style it's the triplet groove that makes it "swing"
I only quantizied some of the drum parts like the kick and hi hat. The rest I manually tweaked a little here and there.   I set the grid resolution to 1/8 triplets just as a guide.
    I didn't touch Steve's parts.
And the Audio is mostly all one take, 2 guitars , bass vocals.  I did punch in the main guitar solo as I wanted it to jump out using a different PU.
Bass is Yamaha via Fender Rumble 100
Guitar - Rythym Strat copy via Fender Princeton - SM 57
Fills my custom Tele , neck humbucker- Green Mile - Fender Princeton SM 57
Lead solo same but Bridge PU and more Green mile ( the green mile is a Tube screamer clone by Mooer)
Drums played  on Yamaha DX 450 into Stike2 custom pre set
