My first mix - The Doppler Shift - Atrophy (Cambridge MT)

Hi all

Looking for some feedback on my first ever mix! It's a track taken from the Cambridge MT site.

I have no previous music production experience so this was a case of playing with things like EQ, compressions, panning etc. and if I liked what I was hearing it stayed, no science behind anything here.

Open to constructive feedback, what is good, what is bad, what is downright terrible! Always looking to learn.

Thanks guys and gals!

vox too low, kinda dull (mix not performance)
too much low end overall, bass guitar may be about 1db too loud.

I agree with Bapu, vocals need to come up front more and you could use some additional panning on the instrumentation and background chorus vocals. Sounds pretty much compressed toward the center. Let each track have their own space like 15 points apart left and right. Nice song though. just keep working at it and it will all come together in time. No one gets it over night. Welcome to the forum.

I'd say all the same stuff... and so I'll say nothing. Decent start, much better than where I started mixing

Like the riff a lot Different timing (to me). Great vocal. Could have been louder in places. The whole song could have been louder as well. Enjoyed the listen.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. Unfortunately I can't take credit for the actual song, written by a band which turns out are quite local to me, taken from Mike Seniors website.

As I said, first ever attempt at mixing so all your comments give me something to work on. Thanks again guys
