My first pro channel anomaly since installing x1c update

Here I am among the afflicted LOL. I was working on a new project in the tracking phase. I wanted to eq the guitar track so I could hear the vocals better since is was a softly sung part. I opened pro channel in the CV and enabled the eq. Then I started moving the gain knob and nothing was happening. I added a huge boost and swept the freq bands and nothing. Disabled and enabled the eq and no change. Closed the project and opened again and still nothing. I enabled the compressor and bam there was both the compressor and the eq. I filed a problem report although I can't reproduce it at will. Just posting here to vent for a min.

I got similar one yesterday. LowPass and HighPass filters worked but the other EQ section become unresponsive.
    You're not alone with this.

Funny, same here. The EQ wouldn't work at all until I added an effect in the effects bin, then the ProChannel EQ started working. I didn't file a report because I could not reproduce it.

Panup did you happen to notice when it was not working if the green "light" next to the on/off button on the PC EQ was flashing to show there was signal?

I did not check... I try to remember it next time (that hopefully never comes again!).

I've found that when the Pro-channel is acting very Un-Pro (which is ever since X1, ok the whole time!), if I open a pre-saved pro-channel preset the pro-channel will come back from the dead or wherever it went to in the mean time. Pro-channel still randomly goes dead, blank, gray, un-responsive. I'd file a report, but they still can't fix the confirmed stuff I reported in March. I've been with Sonar since sonar 2,4,5,6,7,8,8.53, X1,a,b,c, and for the record, this year my $99 yearly Sonar upgrade money will be going to a more stable competitor. X1 will be my #1 Ex DAW!

My problem report was changed to "contact tech support" they believe I have a system specific problem that they can help me correct. I have contacted the email support with plenty of detail. Not sure what is to gain since I can't reproduce it. Come on system specific? On mine and lots of other systems..... I personally believe that is is specific to the x1c that I have installed on my system LOL. Sorry I like X1 and I like the sound and setup for the pro channel... but, it needs to work correctly.. I have a theory that it has something to do with the routing of the "hidden bus" that pro channel is in. I think that sometimes it just routs the audio around the prochannel instead of through it. Somehow loading the preset or in my case enabling the comp kicks it in the but and it starts working. Kinda like trying to get my daughter to do her homework. Most the time she works but when she don't want to, there is no getting her to. We'll see what the next few days hold for the tech support.

probably save a lot of hassle if it was just a vst plug-in to load in fx bin

I don't bother with pro channel anymore - I just load Oxford dynamics onto the effects bin and get vocals that cut the mustard.

I use the Vienna Suite plug-ins alot.... they're all 64bit and sound great. they work reliably, unlike the 'not so' pro channel. At least the Sonitus EQ worked in 8, now, what a waste to have to dig and plug in EQs/comp because the pro channel won't work reliably. Not to mention you could re-enable the Sonitus EQ AFTER you had frozen your synth tracks. (Everyone knows that Tracking and Mixing are 2 Different stages that don't Usually happen at the same time.)

I tried to stay out of this one so they couldn't say I was egging people on to complain about the Pro Channel.

I've brought this problem to Cakewalk's attention since almost day 1. It's not a problem with X1c, or if it is, it's a different manifestation of a similar problem.

What made me jump in is what their reply was to you. If they think by now that this is a system specific problem after all the reports ... and all the months of complaining by me and plenty of others ... then there's absolutely no hope this is every going to get fixed.

Their response to you is absolutely unbelievable in my opinion. I actually hope you are exaggerating and that's not what was really said to you Tom ... but deep down I know better.

Damn this! I struck this (among other things) on my first day of using X1. I moaned at the time and reverted to Sonar 8 where I have been languishing since. Having heard nothing re the PC issue since the arrival of X1c, I yesterday began a major client's project in X1c 64. If you have a 50 track project and you have to check every track every time to confirm that your EQ is on, the app becomes a real liability. Back to 32 bit and Waves REQ.

If a bug is set to "Contact Tech Support", it is because we actually believe we can help you. The Problem Reporter says in multiple places that it does not put you in contact with Technical Support. It's not a matter of the person answering the report not wanting to help, it's a matter of us trying to put you in contact with the correct people to help.

This isn't a challenge or meant to be insulting, it is to let you know that we think we can help. I'm not sure why people take offense to this and the first place they go is to the forums instead of giving us a ring. It's not unbelievable for us to tell you that we think we can help.

Bub, everyone that has reached out to me I've been able to assist with ProChannel related issues.

We've touched upon ProChannel issues on so many various threads, and still to this moment the only issues we were able to replicate were ones that were fixed in X1c, and the remaining ones were related to installation related problems that we have been able to assist with.

If you're running into problems with ProChannel, please reach out to our Tech Support staff and let's not start another argument about the problem reporter.

It's not unbelievable for you to say you think you can help. It's unbelievable that you keep blaming people's systems when so many have seen problems with the Pro Channel.

My apologies for not making that clearer.

Maybe make a sticky with some hints for getting the Pro Channel to work on specific systems?

It's not about "blame" though, is it? They think they've figured out something they can talk him through on a call, that will help him get back to work. "Blame" has nothing to do with it.

I'm not blaming people's systems. I'm saying we can help and that in every case that has been brought forward to us we have been able to.

Continually telling everyone that we are denying an issue is false. We have not and are not doing that.

I don't understand why you are forgetting that I have been able to resolve everyone's ProChannels issues that I have worked with directly. Your particular one was resolved by me working with our developers to get it fixed in X1c.

If anything, myself and others have proven on multiple occasions how willing we actually are to help.

This isn't going to turn into another thread about how Cakewalk is unwilling to listen when this clearly is not the case.
