I saw Worzel Gummidge crying the other day. I asked him what was wrong.

"I hate my name," he whimpered. "I wish I could shorten it to something cooler."

"Don't worry," I said. "It could be Worz."

Hey bapu,
Do you go home with the ink under your finger nails or have you convinced her that acetone is your new choice of after shave?

Could this be the new FSF?

Should I retire from it now just in case?

Mind you, I did have another wonderfully droll joke about 'geography' I was going to tell you...

But you had to be there.

Important message for McQ:

Dear McQ,

Please buy a Kemper Profiling Amp and get Randy to deliver it to you post haste, if not quickerer.

Then, profile all your nice amps.

Then share your profiles with me and Ol'pal.

You could even do requests...

As in: "Hey McQ - would you mind popping out and buying a Powerball 2 E645/2 head and profiling it through all your speaker cabs for me and Ol'pal... and while you're at it, could you repeat the whole process with an Ibanez TS808HW Hand-Wired Tube Screamer at the front end.... thanks"

You know you want to.

Thanks for reading.

Carry on etc.

Just had my next door neighbour knocking on my door when I was playing the guitar. He said" Excuse me fatty, we can't hear a thing next door."

"Not a problem" I replied, so I turned up my amp to number 8. They should be able to hear it ok now.

I'm gonna use it to record a bunch of drum samples for Mr. Evans so he can sell his SONOR drum kit and make room for a Kemper.

I have sampled my Sonor drums already and they sound great except that sequencing a groove with the Sonor samples just doesn't sound quite as good as me playing them live but I guess that is to be expected!

I have been playing live a fair bit lately with rehearsals for the tribute band doing Cash, Orbison and Presley. The Cash stuff is finally starting to sound really good. Not easy to get that style down well.  Good Johnny Cash grooves are harder than you think.

No I don't really want a Kemper either. I have got a Marshall amp here and I have got access to a great Fender Twin too and between them they seem to have it all covered rather well. In one project I just completed I recorded the guitar from the DI (as well as the amps) and used Headcase VST to pull the most incredible guitar sound. (thank Danny for that!) The guitarist was incredible though not the amp!

That sure looks like a pretty piece of flame maple,

but the backing mahogany wood has a big knot in it, someone misplaced the pickup covers, and the tuner knobs aren't disintegrating as the original ones would be.

Luckily for me, when the Ford 150 ran me over it rendered me incapable of slinging a real Les Paul over my shoulder so I don't even fantasize about those guitars.

I know it's a much sought after instrument and all that, but how could it possibly be worth that much?

I realise it's worth what ever someone's willing to pay for it, but over a quarter of a million dollars seems a bit steep. I could almost understand it if it had belonged to someone 'famous' and you could actually hear the thing on their albums.

Re: My house is expecting..... 2013/09/07 08:07:34 (permalink)
I agree. All I see is a used guitar.

I imagine these guitars are bought and sold as *investments* and no one wants to sell at a loss so the price just keeps inching upwards.

I think my 1997 Hamer Artist

that I bought at a used guitar price at what I imagine will be the bottom of it's *value* covers most of the sonic territory that the late 50's Les Paul's popularized.

I think it's a lot harder to find an good affordable microphone than a great affordable guitar these days.

best regards,
mike

Pickup covers?  Those aren't even the stock pickups.

I'd say that guitar is worth maybe $7k max.

Personally, I doubt I'd pay $2,750 for it, let alone 100 times that!

I didn't read the ad copy and just realize that it came with pickup covers from the factory.

What has clued you in to the pickups not seeming original?

As I recall, when guys started pulling the covers off in the early 70's they discovered the zebra color scheme was very common... I imagine that is why the Hamer I own mimics that look as a concession to fashion.
