My latest tune, Biting Winter (final version)

This is the final version although I could not mix it well IMO.

(Here is my latest. Mixing with cans. Made with Sonar X1 (hopefully I am able to upgrade soon). Comments welcome again:). Not ready yet (sounds familiar, I know and I really do not have many satisfyingly finished tunes at all)

Very nice throwback to another era. This would have fit nicely into my record collection from 1979. That's a compliment, btw. So nice to hear something so unapologetically unpretentious and upbeat for a change.

But what's up with that ending? I guess that's part of what's unfinished, eh?

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thank you for the comment Dave. That ending was a bit improvised stuff, I thought it would be nice to have a bit different ending, but I might change it. I am a bit retro guy I've been told.

This is nice feel good tune with a catchy melody, for me it could do with some subtle little touches just some odd drum fill's not big just the odd extra to act as musical clues to some of the changes.

Other than that it sounds like you have something good to progress with.

Thanks for the comment John. I admit the piece could use some drum fills and also perhaps some I am not sure what little things.

You know at first I thought it needs a little something.  More compression or something but as I listened to it, I love the softness.  It is very pleasing to my ear.  It sounds lower in volume but so what.  I just turn it up.  If you like, for mp3 you can normalize it to -1.1db and still keep the smoothness to it.  Great job!  This is what I love about mixing.  It's art too and you painted a nice picture.  I think you did mix it very well.

Thank you John. I need more mixing experience but sometimes I succeed. I am posting another tune soon unless my cold that just started makes it too difficult. I am just starting mixing it and I hope I succeed again.

What a nice listen and change of pace --- at least for me.  I can imagine this song taking another with more volume and build, synths roaring in and out, etc.  However, I think that you have hit the nail on the head with what you have done.  I thoroughly relaxed when I heard this, and after the day I had ---- well, it was just what I needed.  The volume was a bit low but that would be all I would change on this.
    Good job!

Thank you guys. It is always a pleasure to hear compliments. The low volume thing I will try to fix in the next tunes. Thanks again for listening and commenting.
