Very nice.  Love the lead at 3:47.  I've been listening to a lot of Hendrix recently so this was a nice extension.

Nice. I can hear the 'tom jones' since you mention it.
It's a nice voice sound. (better than jones)
I didn't like the rappy stuff too much.

thanks for the comments on the "rappy" stuff -- will take another look at that ------- it was intended to be that kind of "talk singing" Hendrix sometimes did in some of his songs ---- maybe we did not capture that vibe though

Hey Mike. This is awesome. Wierd thing is I got a Mahogany Rush take on Hendrix Vibe more from it. Not A bad thing for me as I love most of the Hendrix inspired players and Child, Strange and Tales are some of my favs.  Loved the guitars performance and tone. Really killer tune. Thanks.

I have been meaning to listen to this for a couple of days.  The vocals sound more like Paul Stanley (Kiss).

The guitar playing is awsome, this has great potential, the mix lets it down slightly, it's a bit muddy and the drums whilst are tight there a little cardboard sounding.

    Great track and great playing.

    Nice job Peace Ben

We are doing final mixes this week.

On the drums, we are looking at the EQ and pulling some "box" frequencies out between 300-500 hz

Also adding some gate plate reverb (1.1 sec) to push it back some and take some of the harshness off

    This is an unmastered version.

Mastering will be done at later whan all songs are done to add that typical "pro" sound mastering (ie ...... tighter low end .... remove low mid blanket buildup ... add that high end sheen above 8K commercial releases always have)

here are the recording notes for this song .......

Drums - played by Frank Basile against my rough guide track.
Recorded at his studio and files sent to me. I then re-recorded all my parts playing against his drums inside SONAR.
(this is the first tune that I did 100% digitally inside a DAW - and did not use the old analog tape machine anymore).

Frank owns Smart Loops and Live Studio Drums, both Online services.
He is endorsed by Pearl Drums.

Rhythm Guitars - A reverse headstock Fender strat with Custom Shop 1969 pickups
Plugged straight into an old early 70's Marshall.
All settings on amp on "10"
    No overdrive or distortion pedals.
Just guitar --------> Wah ----------> Amp
Roll back volume knob on guitar for cleaner "jangly" tones in that mid-section break
Wah was a basic Dunlop Crybaby

Bass Guitar - Fender P bass thru a Sansamp Bass DI box dialed to an Ampeg SVT sound.

Lead Guitar - My favorite customized blue strat with HS3 pickups --------> Analogman Sun Fuzz ---------> Marshall amp

(I often use a different guitar/amp combination for solos and rythyms so they separate in the mix tonally) instead of using the same guitar tone for every piece in the song.

Female Moaning ------- well she had to do several takes because she kept laughing , but that is my better half making her vocal debut on an album (HA)

Spacey Sound effects - This was tough. Since the guitar and bass were playing a kind of walking bassline in unison, I needed some sort of background pad or chordal harmony
but I also wanted that weird Hendrix sound effect thing ...

I finally dialed up something on the Roland GR33 guitar synth that had a strange sound, then outlined chordal tones with slides behind the bass figure to create that kind of 1960's space satellite sound.

Vocals - That is Rob (Rahbil) Hill who is doing all the vocals on this CD. Good solid masculine singer with a mild growl to his voice I like.
I used an emulation of an EMT-140 plate reverb to give him more of that 1960s-1970's vocal effect heard with singers like Tom Jones and Elvis in that time period.

    All recorded inside SONAR

sounds great Mike! some smoking guitar playing on this. enjoyed the vocals, and i think you did hit the right tone with the speaking part. Loved the change of mood in the middle section, the guitar tone then was perfect! in fact this takes a step beyond hendrix, adding in a little psychedelia and even a little proto-doom...loved it.mix sounds pretty darn good but only listening on the laptop. 10/10!
