My new thing...

Taking stuff off the floor. It's awesome!

I just received my first amp stand as well as a heavy duty music stand for my POD HD300 - though I appreciate having the option of using it as a floorboard, I usually spend more time bent over that thing tweaking than using it as a pedal board.

Same for my practice amp which is one of my most used pieces of gear - I needed to have it within reach.

Sounds ridiculous but it feels like the first time I bought a guitar stand! I'm hooked.

I've always recycled stuff - using boxes and planks and whatnot to create my own crappy furniture - actually, my Line 6 amp in the corner of the room is standing on a bunch of drawers I salvaged a while ago. But not for much longer! :P

Looks nice (but it will probably be humorous to see you trying to use that effects pedal with your foot!).

    LOL I can imagine yeah...

Since I use it for recording, I don't really need to switch sounds on the fly. But I tend to tweak sounds quite a bit, so I ended up out of my listening position, kneeling on the floor with the guitar in my hands, twisting knobs and navigating through menus on the little screen. Not all that comfortable. I know I could use the software, but I prefer to go hand on and not deal with an extra layer of software if I can.

The one thing I can think of is if I want to use the expression pedal as a wah - but it's easy enough to just put it on the floor.

The external expression pedal is your friend.  Wouldn't use the popular units without one.  Get the Boss FV 500L and you won't look back.  Can function as a stereo volume as well, with the provided in/outs.  Besides, how are you going to adjust your reverb time and amount, and fade in at a different ration?

Nice guitar amp stand. But I still sit on a bar stool type chair, not to low, and not too high.
Or maybe I should just call it a stool chair (not really being a bar stool chair although I have one about the same height - it ain't put together yet.)

    ??

Then I may stand up as well sometimes.

When we got the house, my wife insisted on buying me a proper chair for the studio. I refused and refused and kept on refusing saying that there were other more urgent things that I needed and that any $ should be set aside for those things.

Just like I've recycled old furnitures and planks and whatever I could put my hands on, I've always used whatever chair I could find - most of the time, regular wooden chair.

So when we moved I walked in and there it was in the studio, a proper chair. And the minute I sat in it, I was sold and couldn't thank her enough.

She's also the one who insisted on buying guitar stands.

And now I'm hooked. I want stands for everything.

Some stands being a bit more exotic than others, ya?

    LOL Good one.

Dropped by GC. This inexpensive red guy was discounted and I'm a sucker for little practice amps... My wife said take it.

I need yet another amp stand.

    Did I mention it's red?

Isn't it? Though, in the meantime, I haven't bought a plug-in since, uh, last summer I think.

Bringing the total of my plug-in purchase for the last 12 months to, IIRC, the Korg collection in March and two more plugs in the next few months. Pretty dramatic change...

I think it goes in cycles.

    10 Buy hardware
20 Realize "Hey! I can do most of this in software!"
    30 Buy plug-ins
    40 Sell hardware
50 Start missing the feel of "real" gear
    60 Plug-ins get old
    70 GOTO 10
