My new toy
Bought a Rickenbacker 4001 bass yesterday - Mapleglow for any of you who follow rickys. It is such a cool percussive sound. More growl than my other basses. So long guitars for a bit.
Some people call me Maurice SPLAT Pro lifetime, ADK 6 core 3.6Ghz with 32 GB RAM, SSD 1TB system drive, 3 3TB regular drives for samples, recordings and misc. Behringer X Touch, UAD Apollo Quad. 2 UAD2 Quads PCI (i think - inside the box whatever that is), Console 1. More guitars (40??) and synths (hard and soft) than talent. Zendrum!!!

That's a classic bass. I played for years with a bassist who had one. He ran his through 2 Ampeg SVT heads and 4 SVT 8X10 cabinets. A low E note would make your teeth rattle and move your pantlegs. Have fun! Randy

Randy I too have a SVT but with 1 6x10 cab. It is earth shaking. I started on string bass with symphony when I was young. I love basses. I have been using a Carvin with active electronics on it and it is a great bass, but the 4001 has such a distinctive sound.

Enjoy!!! best regards, mike Mike I have a 381v12 like this one: And a 325 like this one: I cannot play the 325. My big old hams cannot deal with a 3/4 scale guitar. But I can reach 19 octaves! I love my rickies. The 381V12 is such a great guitar and so well made. The 325 - can't tell.

Went to Rockin Robins to buy the Ricky (place I got my other two). Bart- the guitar purveyor - says Rickies are back ordered pretty much across the country. Interesting. Either volumes are low or demand is huge.

space_cowboy Went to Rockin Robins to buy the Ricky (place I got my other two). Bart- the guitar purveyor - says Rickies are back ordered pretty much across the country. Interesting. Either volumes are low or demand is huge. Ricky's are perennially back ordered. The Hall family understands that business is good when you can't make enough to meet demand. Their investments are so well diversified that they prefer to let Ric, the family legacy, maintain the highest standards of quality. They simply continue to make what they can while ignoring any pressure to increase output beyond their capability. The prices were finally raised about 2 years ago... they took a big 50%+ jump... and that is how they have responded to world wide demand. Even with the price increase the guitars seem like great values when compared to the other 2 big name brands. best regards, mike

mike_mccue We once spoke of the pompitous of love... and good ol times in Foley, Fairhope, and Point Clear. MMmm Lamberts! Throwed rolls. Pompetus of Love. Fairhope! I am homesick. You know where Space Cowboy comes from? True story bro. I moved to Fairhope when I was 16. Evidently I looked exactly like some guy named Maurice Caine. People kept coming up to me - while I was playing my ovation 12 string down by the Fairhope Pier - and saying "Maurice? I thought you were in boarding school in Guam." Then we would take some herbal teas, or whatever. So People called me Maurice. I was a picker. I was a smoker and a midnight toker. Then that song came out - Su Su Sudio - no - The Joker. I have been the Space Cowboy ever since.
