My next bicycle
This new critter is making the press release rounds and I am so excited that I check the stock at the warehouse daily hoping that they will be available for order really soon.. It's built around a recently introduced 29 dia. x 3" cross section tire. The company is known for making several bikes that use gigantic tires for specialty bikes but this new 3 incher seems like a perfect all a rounder for riders that like to ride cross country on untamed paths. It is what I have long dreamed of. I've ridden 2.5" tires for years and always wanted just a little bit more. The frame sets are usually designed for tires no bigger than 2.5 so it is really exciting to think that the new tire size and a frame that runs them will be available. I assembled a 35mm wide rim wheel last month so I could run one of these new 3" tires on the front of my current bike ( I have one of the few bikes with a front fork they will fit on and I am loving it. ) and this new frame design is a modified version of the frame I ride now so the transition to riding 3" front and back should be easy. There seems to be some growth in outback riding or bike packing in the cycling community. That has always been my primary off road cycling interest... Long Slow Distance in places I've never been too... so it seems really cool that suitable equipment is being introduced that enables us to ride more comfortably while we are heading out. Good times. :-) best regards, mike

3" wide? Damn. My last bike had 1" wide tires at 110psi. and I would never take it off road. Of course, that was over 30 years ago! When that style first came out we all called them "Sewer Cruisers" since they obviously weren't meant for serious riding. The times they are a-changing I guess!

Shambler Surly that's got to be a good bike?
They are marketed as practical rider's bikes. They don't spend any effort to make the bikes state of the art with regards to material engineering, instead they concentrate on well designed geometry/fit and applicability for people that either never wanted a fancy bike, or like me, somehow got bored with their fancy bikes. One of the ads states "yes we pour molten lead in the tubes... those rumors that we make really heavy bikes are true." They are bikes built for riders that just can't shake the urge to ride. :-) I'm not fond of sporting the "Surly" decal but the truth is I ride where very few people ever see me or the bike. best regards, mike

This guy would have given his to you, but he'd borrowed it... It had a basket, a bell that rings and things to make it look good.

Craig ... as we get older the tires have to get wider, so we find a way not to fall off ... !

You can't fall off if you don't get back on Pedro. My last real bike was given to Play It Again Sports ten years ago...
