My next goal in music production

Avoid buying anything for music production from Nov. thru Dec.

That usually fails when it comes to stuff under $20.  I always fall for the loop libraries where you get 10 for $15.  It may be another pad or string type Kontakt instrument.  Truefire usually has guitar videos for $5.  Who knows what Waves will do. Buying up all of the cheap items cost as much as buying something big. I only have 3 CC debts and want to keep it that way.

It's probably not a goal I'll meet.  I think I've met only two people that accomplished this out of five forums.

This goal I would also consider it a failure if that money went to buying games.  Developers are making that easier since they have become worse making games that can run on average hardware by a gamer's standard.

I'm trying to do that too.  I've got more stuff than I'll ever need, but keep look at new and shiny toys.  I'm actually trying to hold out until it's time to record a new album (which isn't even written yet), a year or two away.

Good luck!

What is this "hold off" you two speak of?

Now that I have Superior Drummer 3 on pre-order and I got all the Orange Tree Samples stuff (that I wanted) at 60% off what more could I possibly want/need?

OK, after that what could I possibly want/need?

I only know of one way to deal with temptation:  Give in.

(Of course, being broke without credit helped - now that I'm working again and my credit is returning, I need to watch out!)

Well, there's no credit, there's credit available and credit used up.

I'm in the latter group.

SONAR tells me I have 2135 plugins. Believe it or not, there are less than 10 free plugs in there. So I have that going for me, which is nice.

And I do not mix 32bit and 64bit plugs.

Probably all we ever need if they are the right 50.

i can't come up with a list of plugins that i always use,
that's greater than 10.

i guess i just use the daw like a tape machine after all.

IIRC tape machines never really had "plugins".

Consoles on the other hand had sends/returns for hardware "plugins".

Conclusion: batsbrew uses his DAW like a console AND a tape machine.

I have gone cold turkey on anything sample based as I bit on Noiiz
have more synths than I can eat and enough orchestras to fill the Albert Hall
I have more plugins than I have plugs but there is still Bapu's plugin count to beat!

Sonar Platinum - Windows 10 Pro 64bit - AMD FX 8150 processor - 16Gb RAM - 27" Monitor (it's not the size that counts, it's what you do with it)

you have explained that 32 bit and 64 bit don't count double I assume?
not to mention VST2 and VST3
:)

Correct. Separate folders.

But some VST3/VST2 do double as do mono v. stereo. I cannae be arsed to setup a custom plugin scheme as for some reason new releases sometimes muck them up.
