My poor little kitty...
I think she got into it with a bee or a wasp. I noticed she was limping then noticed her right front paw is twice the size of the left one. She does not seem sick or anything but she really don't want me looking at it. I don't think it was a snake but I've seen her swat at carpenter bees (mason bees) and I saw one latch onto her paw it was a male and they don't have stingers but the females that are out now do. Do you know anything I should watch for or just wait until tomorrow and see if the swelling is down. If not, I'll take her to the vet. She is a small panther, a tuxedo Manx cat and weighs in at a bit under 7.5 pounds, she thinks she is ten foot tall though.. Don't know what to do except wait. Since she does not seem sick or lethargic I guess it's OK to wait. You reckon? J

If it was me, and I had the slightest thought it was a snake bite, ie, I had seen a lot of snakes around lately, area is known for snakes etc, I'd be going to the vet pronto just to be sure, because it may be to late once you start to see 'symptoms'. Check to see if you can see puncture wounds ? I once seen one of my cats out in a sugar cane field, young short cane, and by her actions she was obviously doing battle with a snake, was about 100 m away, I didn't know whether to grab a shovel and race out or what, my thinking was that if I went running over, it may distract her, taking her attention away, and that would give the snake a free shot, same thing with calling her, just didn't know what to do, it all ended well though.

No, I don't see any puncture wounds, there is something. I'm thinking it's a sting or a thorn, she wont let me look but she ate and is now sleeping on a blanket on the sofa. I'd think that if it were a snake it would be a small one, very venomous and she would be sick by now, but I don't know. The only thing that worries me is that the whole paw is swollen so it is a sting or a bite I'm pretty sure. I've never seen a poisonous snake here but there are copperheads around I'm sure. She could have made the mistake of catching a squirrel too. IDK. I'll keep a watch. I'll Google and read a bit. Thanks... J

The vet is where I would go if funds permit. If the swelling is from infection it could get serious. I wish you both well.

Choice #1 - Vet Choice #2 - Search for a stinger (which would normally still be pumping venom!) and use something like a credit card to knock it off (never grip it to pull it out since that just pumps more venom in). Then mix a little baking soda with water and use that paste to help draw out some of the toxin.
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Yes a thorn or similar is a possibility as well. As long as you keep her inside, so she doesn't wander off on the off chance it was a snake bite, and monitor her, the more time that passes pretty well rules out snake bite, you're right it doesn't take that long for the effects to start showing. I was always told the eye's and the mouth are good signs, pupils being enlarged, and the tongue and gums etc turning pale. I would start to feel at ease after about 6 to 12 hours had passed without any adverse affects, anyway hope she is fine.

Well, she was better later in the night and next day the swelling was pretty much down. For a while one foot and leg was twice the size of the other though. Back to normal now, thank goodness. J

Those are some sad pictures. Seeing animals in distress affects me strongly as I view most animals as innocent things. I realize that some (like my cat) are the spawn of Satan, but it still gets me when they suffer.

All is well. Thanks! It's funny, she knows that she is half the size of most cats but she wont tolerate them in the yard. She will scream at another cat and then run, lol.
