It appears you've gone from bad to worse by ditching the x-fi. Please can you explain what 'it' is meant to 'line up' with? You've made a fairly hefty investment in software and a powerful computer, please do yourself (all of us! ;-)) a favour and drop a couple more bucks on a decent soundcard with real drivers, proven to work in a 64bit environment. It needn't be expensive, something like an entry level Echo card, an M-Audio 2496 or even one of Cakewalk's own offerings. Did you realise you can put your machine specs in your forum profile 'signature' to save you typing them out each time? Rock on, Child

Rock on, Child ** I just read in another thread that Creative has updated the drivers, they are now supposed to work in 64 bit environments. Let's assume this to be correct. Would you then consider adding the X-fi to your list of decent soundcards ?

the soundblaster soundcards *can* work if their drivers work with your system. but they are not designed for recording and their drivers are not written specifically for working with DAWs. I do not recommend that anyone purchase a soundblaster of any kind. if you already have one and want to use it, then I have no problems with that if it works for you. but if you're going to spend $100 on a soundcard, why not buy one that's designed for DAWs instead for the same amount of money? I have some soundcard recommendations on my website and more info about how to choose a soundcard for your needs.

"i respect you guys and you really know what ur talking about in here !!! so there ya go ,,,,, HELP !!! im dying to record thanks " Hmm that was a month ago, I guess he did die? Realtechs do work in MME mode but that's all, It's like a very bad way to work. Once again - Why would you use $400 software with a $10 sound card??? ( because i got it free)

They call it 'the audiophile's choice'. I guess the real choice is their E-mu range. -- I'll check your website, thanks.

I don't want to get into a flame war, some people on this forum can get downright nasty defending the soundblaster cards. but even creative's claim of titanium being "developed for games and recording" is an oxymoron, IMO. you can't design a soundcard for games AND recrording, IMO (and again, I KNOW someone will argue that point). I also think that the next statement you make sums it up nicely as well. "the audiophile's choice." well, audiophiles and recording/mixing engineers are not the same thing. audiophiles are folks who are end users - "listeners" of music, not the "makers" of music. I know I'm walking a line here that will get me flamed. so be it. but that's my opinion.
