My rock band's newest song...

Sounds like Sammy vocals and audioslave/acdc guitar? haha Anyway, take a listen. I used guitar tracks pro to record. http://www.facebook.com/steroydband (Click the MP3 button) ALSO... Having a bit of a problem with it. I'm hearing clean guitar and amplitube at the same time. It would be awesome if you could help me out. Normally when someone compares themself to another group, I think, "Oh no, this is going to be derivative".  However, in this case that's a good thing.  I liked the lead vocal and background vocals very much.  There is some of Sammy Hagar and Chris Cornell in the voice, but it's clearly his own.  I don't hear the issue you have with the guitars.  The mix sounds very well balanced on my  system.  All in all, I like this song very much, but don't be too hasty to compare yourselves to other groups when with just a little finesse you could have an original sound.  Nice job.

    All the best,
    Lynn

Nice vocal harmonies.  I am not hearing much of the hi hats or cymbals other than a few short sections like around 2:14 where it comes in for a second.  Other than those spots the presence of the drums seems buried to me.
I am not listening on the best of system at the moment but it seems the guitars are dominating the entire EQ getting so low that they are masking the bass and kick, and so high that it's covering the cymbals too.  Just my opinion on a quick listen....

ADK Built DAW, W7, Sonar Platinum, Studio One Pro,Yamaha HS8's & HS8S  Presonus Studio/Live 24.4.2, A few decent mic pre's,  lots of mics, 57's,58 betas, Sm7b, LD Condensors, Small condensors, Senn 421's,  DI's,  Sans Amp, A few guitar amps etc. Guitars : Gib. LP, Epi. Lp, Dillion Tele, Ibanez beater, Ibanez Ergodyne 4 String bass, Mapex Mars series 6 pc. studio kit, cymbals and other sh*t.

I usually don't like listening on FB.....

     The singer is good....

Listening to Worm hole....  Something is wrong with this mix. The bass sounds too heavy on this system....and it's making it sound like it's pumping as a result.

Kinda like the kick and bass are overloading the mix/speakers.

I think it wouldn't hurt to back up and regroup on the mix... turn some things down and start again.

the band is good, the songs are good, the singer rocks,,,, the mix needs fixing.

I listened to a few tunes and they all seem to be going in this same overloaded direction.

I got to undercover.... the kick at the beginning is slapping.... not punching. EQ and compression, and maybe levels need adjusting.

fade to black.... instruments sounded a bit better.... not quite as loud..... but the drums are still pushed too hard.

Mississippi Queen: one of my favorites....and don't tell Karyn there's a cowbell in it....  a bit of sibilance on the vox,  but the instruments sounded better to me.

Just my 2 cents on the mixes. Good stuff there and I hope you fix the mixes, this is hot stuff.

Then again, maybe it's the Face Book music player.....?

I'm happy with the mixes. I don't believe in perfection. Hate the sound of polished music. I don't even tune my guitar before I record lol. But thanks for the input. Glad you like the tunes! Feel free to dload :)
