My solution to all the world's problems
I think overpopulation has stretched the world's resources. Violence has escalated. People are on edge around the planet. I have an elegant solution: Get rid of 95% of the men on the planet. Say there are about 6 billion people. That would be about 3 billion males. 90% of that would be 2.85 billion. So we get rid of 95% of the men, the world's population decreases 2.85/6 or 47.5%. Yeah I know it would be difficult. What was left of us would have to deal with 20 women for every man, but we would be saving humanity. This concept has been promoted before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UylkQXqhlKs
Some people call me Maurice SPLAT Pro lifetime, ADK 6 core 3.6Ghz with 32 GB RAM, SSD 1TB system drive, 3 3TB regular drives for samples, recordings and misc. Behringer X Touch, UAD Apollo Quad. 2 UAD2 Quads PCI (i think - inside the box whatever that is), Console 1. More guitars (40??) and synths (hard and soft) than talent. Zendrum!!!

I think that is a well thought out and workable plan. I would be glad to donate my services to oversee its implementation is in the best interests of me all.

I certainly understand the goal of such a noble undertaking, but it seems to me that this would, in fact, quickly end the human race. While, initially, the surviving male population might see their situation as positive, it would not be long before they eagerly hurl themselves into the peace and tranquility of the grave. TV - All Oprah, all the time Music - Yanni, 24/7 Pets - Cats. Everywhere. Discussion Topics - Everything is My Fault, Cats, All of the Things I Must Change About Myself, Cats, Relationships, Cats, Reasons I don't want to talk about Cats, Cats... Daily Time Allocation - Cooking: 2 hours, Eating: 10 minutes, Listening: 18 hours, Talking: 1 minute, Housekeeping: 2 hours, Cat Time: 1 hour, Sleeping: 49 minutes. It wouldn't take very long for men to reach the point of despair and find themselves longing for the sweet release of Death. No man can serve 20 masters...

Actually if this were a real situation then women would become the dominant sex and with so few males available, they would become very literally slaves - bought, sold and bred for sex and caged and chained like animals. they would have no rights in society and absolutely no power as a "species."

I was about to post that it would appear, Beagle, that nothing would really change, when I received a severe electric shock from my collar. As a result, I am now posting that surviving males will be well treated and given all the respect they are due. I have not been coerced into typing this, if I know what's good for me. Meh... WAR is the answer, war is always the answer. Even Jesus says war is the answer, the Prince of Peace said He will return and the beast will make war with Him and His chosen and He will kill them all. The real problem right now is China with 20 aggressive young men for every woman... and they have LOTS of them. China has said that they can field an army or 200 million men.. I don't know how they would control them but I also don't know how we would stop them. Lets keep fiddling around with their finances until we pi55 them off and then maybe we will see. J

My solution is: With food rationing and hormones added to drinkingwater, we shrink the average size and age of humans to the level it was at 200 years ago. Five foot tall people weighing 90 pounds and dying around 50 years of age would be so much more environment friendly. Also, they might be more active and entrepreneurial knowing that they can't leave everything for later years.

Kalle, that's a good one;) I for one wouldn't mind having to entertain 20 women at all times (just hope they're not too old and not to much lesser than nice looking). I suppose they'd eventually learn that I need to be fed and kept healthy to live up to their demands. This sounds like the beginning of a movie.... of sorts

We have 3, but I'd have a dozen of them around if I could. Or more. In fact, my solution would be to get rid of 95% of the PEOPLE on the planet, and bring in more cats. :p TV - Never owned one, so whatever's one... Music - I make my own. Or my listen to my fiancée's. I'd have no issue "losing" most of what's out there these days. Pets - See above. Discussion topics - Check Daily Time Allocation - Already looks somewhat like that. ;)

The idea looks good on paper but in practice It would never fly.How many out there will volunteer to be a part of the "reduction"? We have a natural population control underway right now, its called death. Natural death, accidental death, disease, war account for millions dieing every year. There have been huge populations in the past but history never had a way to record high numbers the masses could read. Violence can escalate with lower populations. The number of people is not an indication of level of violence unless you kill just about everyone. Cain Killed Abel and there were only a handful of people alive then according to that account. Space Cowboy- I know you intended this for a fun discussion, if this gets too serious we can steer it the other way. There are women in every area that men are in and they are every bit as good at those things as men are and some are better, but the percentage of women building/engineering as opposed to men is very heavily leaned toward men in things technical. The planet would be hurled into another dark age. Not enough personnel to keep the power plants and computer systems/cars and such in working order. People are farmers and 1 of maybe every 1000 is a genius,so if you eliminate all of those you are shooting yourself in the arse. How many geniuses and visionaries have we aborted in the USA? How many future taxpayers and productive people gone aside from the moral aspect of it? Why is China one of the fastest growing economys on the planet? Because they have the manpower and the knowledge to produce for the whole world. There are already more women than men. Women live longer on average than men do. Men go to war and are more likely to be killed on the job trying to make a living. Beyond a certain age men are a hot commodity. No kiddin' look it up.

No need to plan anything.... The way I see it, human population is very close to a dramatic reduction anyways either: a. From a war between the poor and the rich, the starving and the fatmen, the leaders and the rest or b. from a natural big-scale disaster affecting all the planet at once Just wait a few decades for it...
