Myspace, Soundclick, Soundcloud, Facebook, your own web-page, etc?
I was just wondering for anyone posting up their own material: Where do you prefer to post it up? Myspace, Soundclick, Soundcloud, Facebook, your own web-page, etc? Need to do some research, reading and emailing. I don't like how some sites state they own your stuff and can use it for whatever they want. Mostly they take profiles and use them on their site, but then they can use them for advertising, and you won't see money for that, etc. Exposure is good, but it has to balance out.
Desktop specs: ASUS M3N78-VM, AMD Phenom II 965 3.4Ghz, 3.5Gb RAM (4Gb), XP Home Edition 32-bit Service Pack 3, nVidia GeForce GT 430. 4 internal drives, a bunch of externals. Laptop specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ 2Ghz, 3Gb RAM, Vista Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 2, ATI 3100. 3eSATA to work off of, a bunch of external drives.

I think its best to do it via making your own website. That way you have complete control over your content and don't really have to worry about any of the social network sites using your info. I recently created a new website myself and as soon as I learn how to create a good webpage, my content will be going there. Sometimes, you just get tired of someone else or company using your created works.

I don't want to learn html or other codes. I tried that once, and I was getting it, but I didn't have a use for it. I would like to be able to drag and drop, open up text boxes, etc and try to get the most features with the easiest way to do it and the fastest way too. Seems for someone to suceed, they have to learn every single skill...Gettin a little tired of it. The rewarding feeling and independence cannot be replaced though...But my time is just as important. How do you make your web-pages AVTechman?

How do you make your web-pages AVTechman? Well, I am in the beginning stages myself so I am learning as I go but, there are many templates that you could use and tailor to your specific application. It would also save alot of time because you do not have to worry about doing the nitty-gritty with HTML unless you want to do specific things.

Webeasy Pro is a good program for making the site.... BUT... the chance that a commercial site like sound click will pick your song to use "for free" is so remote.... and if they do, doesn't that amount to free advertising... I don't see what the big fuss is all about. If you happen to write a #1 hit, they might use your other music to advertise themselves.... but I'm guessing you'll also pull your other tunes off the site before that too.... and what is the real chance that you'll write a #1 hit..... ? Again pretty slim I'm guessing... it's a hard business to get to the top in... I'll take all the help I can get.

+1 on Herbs suggestion. I like the SoundCloud or ReverbNation attached to Facebook. SoundClouds nice if your just getting going because you have the ability to make everything privte until you want it posted/released ;) (Herbs Suggestion to me-Works GR8)

I don't want to be paranoid. I have been, and with what I'v learned: With good reason. Trying to balance out some promo and the fact I am getting a "free" web-space to do my thing, with most of it easy to use and ready to go, etc: I don't want to be overly paranoid. I can't say I will be making #1 hits. People have liked my stuff, or liked it a bit and encouraged me to keep going instead of saying stop. Time has passed, I'v gotten better. If I could make money off what I enjoy: I would. If I put my stuff online and it's used to meet other artist and like minded people: I want to keep it safe. I don't like these stories about people using these sites and people on forums like these, being taken advantage of by some of the artists/producers/companies/etc who "made it" or can pay you to make their profit. Common, what four or five figures sometimes to their millions? Can't pay a singer, songwirter, rapper, graphic designer, beat maker or an engineer, etc ? WTF is that? The artists who use to be played often in my collections or watched on video: Are not the same when I started to break this stuff down. I give some leeway to people learning, dj's making remixes or improvising on stage, small events or classes, etc. It's not worth the fuss. After it get's bigger though, it is. I'm going to keep looking on the sites and send some emails, then keep those emails and keep on the changes the sites make. I am actually about to start with a few sites right now. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Some more to look up.
