Mysterious swaying plant

So I'm guessing the scientific explanation for this is probably quite boring.

However, it is rather freaky at the same time and if I'd stumbled upon this on acid I'd probably be tempted to throw myself down and offer myself to it.

This comment says it all: "It's actually the lure of a much larger animal that dwells underground. You're lucky to be alive."

I imagined thousands of tiny insects high on E swinging on the thing to insect techno.

High metal chimneys are equipped with a spiral extension around the stem to prevent that phenomenon. It's caused by wind. That's my guess.

As you see, the stem of the plant is very, very thin. Was it much thicker, or if the leaves of the plant unsymmetrical or spread, the swaying wouldn't take place.

It is a video of a Palmaceae apparently made by mountain bicyclists who seem to have ignored the fact that these palms are ubiquitous until the moment that the bikers noticed that they were riding in a palm forest

This probably has something to do with full suspension.
