    hello ralph from denmark,

welcome to the forum. i've had a v studio 100 for a year now. no complaints. nice for a live vocalist as well.

haven't heard or seen anything about a new version.
there is the roland octa capture which integrates nicely with it. check it out:

i don't own one, but i read some good user reviews.

    hope that helps.

    Thank you Matt :)

Well it's been discounted here so that's why i was wondering...

I have a few questions some of you owners might be able to answer:

1.Can i assign/route all the 6 outputs freely? I need it to run my 5.1 setup from vegas?

2.In live SD-mode is it possible to playback a track with metronome/click via headphones (for our drummer) but get the clean signal without click for the engineer at one of the other outputs? I mean how can anyone do it without clicktrack when it's just stings etc your backuingtrack consists of?

    Thanks :)

    hi sprome,
    1. when the vs100 is connected to a computer, all if its outputs are assignable.

    2. i do believe that the metronome can be assigned to output 3 in stand alone mode. however, when not hooked up to a computer, the output capabilities are practically limited to stereo... the major shortcoming of this unit. although, if used with a laptop, this is not a concern while mobile/on location. unfortunately, i don't have a lapper...

i guess a little sub-mixer could solve your problem if you take the sd mix out from the vs100 headphones output and take the metronome out on 3, all to the sub mixer and make a separate headphones mix for the drummer like that. you can then send just the sd mix to the engineer on outputs 1 and 2.
that could be a possible work-around to the prob.

    hope that helps.

ps. i couldn't quite understand what you meant here:
" I mean how can anyone do it without clicktrack when it's just stings etc your backuingtrack consists of?"

    thank you again matt!

so cool you're taking the time to answer my questions.

well if the output 3 can be assigned to click would be great. i mean we have a few tracks we need to playback a synth track, but sometimes the synth doesnt come on before 1 minutes into the song so until then we need to be in sync also due to keep the samte bpm as the sample.
of course if you play a full drumplayback etc you won't be needing a click as all the bandmates can clock themselves after the playback beat ;)

so i'll get the unit soon!

    hi ralph,

i know what you mean about needing to be in sync with a sequence that comes in at the middle of the song.

i just checked it out on my vs100 to make sure, and i was able to assign the metronome to outputs 3/4.

    glad i could be helpful.
