NAMM has come and gone...

NAMM has come ...and gone...

And the only significant thing from Cakewalk was Zeta for iOS....

Isn't everyone excited?

Thinking with the recent deal with Gibson... they'd at least have a software box in the shape of a flying V.  Oh well... guess it's like Bo Didley's guitar... just a box.

I didn't see anything from NAMM that really excites me. I think their running out of altitude, airspeed, and ideas...

Too many choices. There's simply so much disposable stuff these days that it just becomes a wall of noise.

The only thing I've read about with interest is the new Stratocaster with wiring modules. Plug in pickups and the ability to mod the wiring configuration in seconds is pretty cool. Great for those with no technical chops, and no batteries required. Sorry Gibson, robot guitars are just silly.

Yet a few vendors are putting out products that are barely current, let alone cutting edge. I guess I'm getting jaded and picky. I'm buying less stuff and focusing on good quality.

    Regards, John

PC Software wise they need one that goes to 11 to get attention, there is so much available these days. IOS stuff seems ta cause a buzz in a lot of quaters (along with a lot of derision here )

I notice Korg announced some controller keyboards, http://www.production-room.com/news-article/NAMM-2014-Korg-Taktile-Controllers

They look good until you see there are just 49 and 25 note options. Surely there has to be a market for a controller keyboard with longer that 61 notes with plenty of knobs and sliders that does not have fully weighted piano style keys. These days its all about protability over useability.

IOS sells by the bucketful and that's why it's taken over. I suspect most users treat it like Beatscape. It gets used once and never sees light of day again.

Buy Behringer after it's been out over 6 months. Production with their stuff is always problematic until the country making them gets into a groove on putting cheap parts together.

That's good advise to wait for a while for Behringer new production to get rolling for a while. They have another interesting audio interface range with ADAT support too :

I'm late to the tank thingy.. having just purchased the VI collection late last year.. But I forgot to download the sound set and the 1 month download period had expired when I resume recently. I wrote to IK and they are kind enough to offer to extended another 1 month for me to download, else I have to purchase the download pass x5 (each for one VI).. and I'm glad they helped me out :)

Excited and Cakewalk aren't two words that I've used in a sentence together for quite a while.
