I'm starting to think about getting my music library onto the network and, after some preliminary research, realize that the best approach is to get a NAS (network accessible storage).  Because I'm not wealthy (yet) and I want to stream my 3TB music library using Media Monkey (and, more importantly, using a phone/tablet remote app that I helped test) so I can send tunes to various remote locations, I would need a NAS that is DLNA Certified (DLNA is an organization and stands for Digital Living Network Alliance).
 
Does anyone have a NAS that they would recommend?  Newegg has a few, but it appears that only the Buffalo ones have DLNA and they also have lots of bad reviews so I think I'll avoid them.

FYI craigb (ITYRN) I'm not streaming but I do have a Buffalo NAS. It's the 4TB (2x2TB; I'm using Raid-0) model that. I've not had a problem with it as yet (over two years now).

Is "DLNA Certified" different from "supports DLNA"?

I continued to research this for another couple of hours after posting and, this stuff is expensive!  Well, if you want something that will actually work fast enough to stream media anyway.
 
To answer your question, "DLNA Certified" means it covers all aspects of the DLNA specification while "Supports DLNA" is hit-or-miss whether it will really work with all other DLNA devices, controllers, servers and renderers.
 
I've also only found ONE reasonably priced renderer so far.  The Arctic Audio Relay (check it out HERE ).
 
Now that I know what a smart NAS can do, I'll eventually want one large enough to back up multiple PC's, stream audio, run IP-based security cameras and have the ability for me to log into it when I'm not home.
