NEAR DISASTER! (SOLVED)

I was recording a song, "gladly pay you tomorrow," and I had my bass player over.  She likes to drink beer.  Midway through the vocal she tripped over the mic and spilled beer into my computer.
 
My heart skipped a beat, and so did the computer.  It shut down and wouldn't boot up.  It just ran the fans on high speed.  I wanted to curse.
 
I restarted 3 times and still  nothing.  The fans whirring away.  I thought all was lost...ALLL.
 
In a last ditch effort I took off the cover and put a box fan on high next to the Mobo.
 
Thirty minutes later the computer booted up, and it is still working right now.
 
I think the bass played straightened up after that. The bass she played on my new song was straight out of 47th and South Tenth.

With a laptop. Quickly unplug, flip and pop the battery out. Every DAW should have a beverage holder. I saw an engineers chair yesterday online that has a beverage holder on the back of the seat support... neat! Expensive too!
 
Drink government beer, it won't do anything.

Best advice is to immediately disconnect from power and begin drying, as you did with forced air. My childhood home was carried away in a flood many years ago, and when we located it in the middle of an intersection and recovered the electronics, pretty much everything except the record turntable and speakers worked fine after drying out even though under slimy water for a couple of days. The fans are actually the most vulnerable to water. The electronics will suffer most from arcing and short circuits and to a lesser extent electrolytic corrosion which is why cutting the power or getting the battery out fast is important.

Can't argue with any of it.
Picked up some yellow caution tape from the BIG BOX STORE, I will put up a perimeter tomorrow.
 
Went to my local computer guru and took some internal cd/dvd players he was going to toss.  I have three open bays.  I need to get ready for my female vocalist, but she drinks vodka, so maybe not a big problem.

After an upgraded graphics card my PC was sitting there still with the side off.
 
As some people have been know to do, celebrations ensued involving alcoholic beverages.
 
One 'sip' of wine went down the wrong hole and impulsive choking action propelled the last hamster cheeked mouthful all over the newly fitted NVidia monstrosity which was unprotected by said unfitted side panel.
 
PC monitor then joined in, in the spirit of the occasion by showing random squares of colour, surely influenced somehow by the red liquids soaking in to the graphics card surface mounted jiggery pokery.
 
To cut a long story short, after a quick towelling down with a dry tea-towel and fitting of the protective side panel plus a brief sigh of relief,... normal service was resumed.
