NEED MIXING ADVICE/HELP/TEMPLATE/TIPS/POINTERS (CAKEWALK BUNDLE LINK ATTACHED)

How come you need it ASAP? If you have just started with SONAR, I'd guess you'd expect a few months of learning period? 


I don't mean to be rude, I really don't, but isn't it a bit much to ask someone to use a couple of hours of his free time for you "ASAP" before we have any indication that you yourself have done something to learn the basics? Quite radical for an opening post.

So, let me get this right, you want someone on here to mix your "beats" because you don't have the necessary skillset, then you'll be selling this onwards at a profit? Did I miss anything?

I actually DL'd the file and popped it in X1. 

I'm not really sure what you're wanting to do with this because aside from one plug in that was in the short vox track... which wasn't in my plugs list.... this project has no plugs. 

Everything is routed to master bus. All tracks are waves.  And to be honest... this is not my genre of music but:  the mix sounded reasonable to me for what the genre is. Slow to medium tempo groove. The mix was not bad....  I listened all the way through to the mix as it was.... no changes from me ..... before I started to experiment. 

I'm setting there think what can I do to improve this mix?

So here's what I did... I nudged one of the brass tracks one click right. then I panned them 75% right , the other one left. and added a slight reverb to a buss and routed the 2 brass tracks into it.  

I moved most other things off center 20% (one thing R the next one L) or so except the kick and bass.... give it some stereo spread and not so MONO down the center.   

I inserted Ozone 4 into the master bus. I used a custom preset which I developed for the country songs I write. This brightened the highs....I could hear the highhat clearly..... and gave some punch to the bottom...

I did that in about 10 minutes.... to me it sounded pretty good.  But again.... this genre is not my normal fare here so I'm not really sure if it would cut it in the genre's world. 

BTW.... I like the tune and the groove.... pretty cool stuff.  

My only suggestion here is: if you don't have Ozone, you might want to consider it as your next purchase. It really brings a good sounding mix which might be a bit lifeless, to the next level.  You can DL the free demo if you do not have it....try it for a few days.

I'm not asking for anyone to do anything for free actually. I am asking for some pointers on eq'n and fx's. Also, if someone sees fit to take on this task, I will be willing to trade off services such as composing some tracks, production tips, etc. However, if money is an issue, we can discuss such. I am not a freeloader. Everyone (in my opinion) has to pay their way in some shape or form, but help/advice is returned with help/advice. You never know who I may be or know. Thanks to all who replied, reviewed this post and/or downloaded the cakewalk bundle.

In that case I'll download it when I get home later and have a listen, although Herb (Guitarhacker) seems to be on the case with this one - he knows his stuff!
