NEVERLAND IS BACK - NEW ORIGINAL SOUND

Hi everyone , been working on a new version of Neverland not related to M.J. this time . The problem I'm having now is with the MIX , I'm trying to mix this with one monitor speaker . In my headphones it sounds great , in my little monitor speaker not nearly as good .
I was hoping someone who has a good set of monitor speaker can tell me if the mix is good or not so good .
Tommorrow I want to mess around with my guitar and see what I can add to this first section just to get a feel for the music using my guitar .

 http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=12382292&q=hi&newref=1

Anyway this is the start of my new song project , still have a long ways to go as I plan on adding new lyrics to it as well after the music is finished .
Thanks for the listen and any comment or suggestions - James

Ahhh, WIP? It was a WIP in 2009? This is 2013? That is by definition "4 years later?" And the quote unquote "final" version is from 2009?

I don't get it? I could post 20 songs of mine from years ago, in an effort to remain on the 1st page? But I don't? Mayby you shouldn't either?

I don't doubt that people will answer, and comment? They should not... It's noise on a forum that should be used for legitimate music? And something from 4 years ago, without commenting that it's from 4 years ago? Is by definition "noise..." Preventing real/current music on the forum.

I'm confident you will have an agressive, abusive attack in response? (history) Please note, my post is neither, it deals in facts? Something I'm sure your reply will not risk...

**PLEASE NOTE!!** IT IS BY DEFINITION IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE ALL OF YOUR WORK CONSIDERED A WORK IN PROGRESS. And in-particular, something from 4 years ago... If so, then "everything" is a work in progress? Nothing is done?  Nothing is a completed work? And nothing should be judged on its merits? "Absolutely Nothing..." Because it's all fluid? And not the kind you want squirted on you either...

Are there no represntations made here with regard to what has changed, modified, or improved from 2009? I looked? I don't believe this is an effort to improve anything? (sorry just observation) Seems more a reguritation than a resubmission? I could be wrong, just didn't see anything to indicate otherwiise.

THE FINAL NEVERLAND - VOCALS

DON'T  SAY IT !   I just had to redo the vocal in Neverland but theres a BIG SURPRISE this time , oh yes you will just have to give it a listen just one last time .

This is my very best vocal track ever , I hope you will agree .

*Also, please note, there seemed to be some sort of a cry for help based on crippled equipment? This is also part of the pattern...

I can give you help? Based on your broken equipment?

Are you ready to hear it? Because words like "Suck" and "Ass" come up throughout my reviews on this "stuff?" They are fair, and real expressions?

But Cheers!

Damn my memory. It either is? Or "is not" a Work In Progress... We all fight with those, so to BS it as such disrespects others who in fact do struggle with work of progress.

Pay no attention to this person acting like a Troll James. You made it clear that you are RE-DOING your song. In fact I am the one who suggested that you should do so.

There's always going to be somebody who just doesn't want you to be heard because of their ego's, pay no attention to them. Keep on working on it James.

This song was completed and FINISHED 100% WITH A VIDEO 100% also, I am the one who suggested you should re-do it and re-visit your song now 4 years later.

There is nothing wrong with posting something you are working on looking for advice, UH, last time I checked this was the SONGS forum and that's kinda the whole point. Getting advice, learning, making friends. As for the thrashing, let that be someone else's problem, don't let it discourage you and I'd suggest just ignoring such things.

Keep working on this one James, I would really like to see you do the video version and enjoyed hearing what you've done with the music so far also. It is sounding better than I remember.

Keep on keeping on James,

Bobby

Thanks Bobby , your right there isn't ONE forum rule here saying you can't post a WIP song . Robby MISSED my reason for posting it , his PERSONAL ATTACKS toward me shows what type of person he really is in real life and its almost certain his actions toward others will rub off on those who live with him and thats SAD !
Someday he will understand what the word BULLY means , people like that really need professional medical help and its too bad we have to live around these types of people who think their better then others who are using this forum for help and advice . Maybe someday he will stop drinking and realize this is a forum is for everyone who has purchased and uses CakeWalk products and who is here to learn from others who are kind enough to HELP others when asked .

Thanks again Bobby - James

Mix sounds pretty good to me. The low bass beat is a tad heavy, IMO.

Thanks Mark , I been working about three hours today on some guitar for this song and I almost have it worked out so it works with the new lyrics I started writing for this new version of NEVERLAND .
This time I plan on leaving the late M.J. out of it , I'm rewriting the whole song in a different way then before .
Still alot of ground work to do , there won't be anymore updates untill its completely finished so that should make Robby HAPPY !

Thanks for the listen Mark -James

Ok one more time , a comment was made that I had too much bass going on so topday I went back in and replayed my piano section for my first verse because of the lyrics I'm writing plus I remixed it hoping to remove some of the bassy sound going on .
I think I did that but you be the judge , too much bass going on now ?

Thanks -James

Hi Starise , thanks buddy ! Its only the first verse section , next is a small four or six measure break before the Chorus section , thinking maybe some violin in the break section just before the Chorus .

Hey I tried doing something a bit different , instead of mixing one guitar lead track I created for tracks same guitar lead in each one .
Then I panned one 40% left and the other 40 right , the two I left in the center plus added compression on each track and this other effect on each track .

Sound better now ? James

Hi, you just gave me some positive comments on improving my mix on a song I posted and I did so. I came across this thread asking for input on mix which I have a roomful of speakers, but not much mixing knowhow. I wanted to here your item so to better educate myself on mixing. But there is no link to a song. I found "My Guitar Weeps" on soundclick and played with and without going thru a graphic Eq and it sounds so clear, balanced for each instrument. I thought it couldn't be better. But gets me down cause I can't figure out why my mixes sound like coming thru a little transistor radio. I strive to learn. Let me know if I can listen to anything for an amateur opinion on mix, if anything, I got the power and the speakers. Thanks again for the earlier comments. captg

Hey thanks , it takes a pretty big hammer to put me down . As for reposting I might repost it soon after I finished working on this one new section I have been working on a few days now . Theres alot going on in it and mixing with this one little monitor speaker hasn't been easy but I'm working thru it and might post it for some mix feedback so check back in a day or so .

Thanks - James

Thanks , my advice when recording is to stay away from using REVERB as much as possible , in some cases you might need some reverb when recording piano but with me reverb can really screw things up if you misuse it .
I always use compression on all my tracks except for my drum tracks , there's some other effects you can add to a recorded track too but I want go there now .
Also I mix my tracks after I record each new track , its a big mistake to record lets say twenty tracks and then go back and then try mixing all of them at one time .
There are some other little things I do but that really has to do with how you listen to your music & recordings , finding that right balance from one track to another takes time just keep working at it .
Another tip its best to let your ears rest for a day and then relisten to your song , you'll be surprise how much things change in a day .

Not sure if this will help you get started but its what I do and seems to work for me most of the time , I'm still learning new things when mixing tracks and my music so keep at it . You'll find something that will work for you soon enough .

Thanks - James

Re: SO MUCH FOR FEEDBACK - REMOVED FOR NOW 2013/06/25 22:24:09 (permalink)

Hi , a few ask me to post my NEVERLAND sample and I just did after making many new changes .
I decided to stick with the original old version sound with some new changes added to the old Neverland song I created back in 2009 .
The BAD news with this work in progress song  my DAW is breaking up really bad now while recording and adding new tracks , it shouldn't be breaking up at all .
I might have to uninstall Windows XP and reinstall everything all over again to fix this issue , months ago I started noticing how slow my computer had been running while on the internet plus some other weird things have been going on and now right in the middle of recording this new version with every new track I add it starts breaking up on me during my recording of a new added track .

I have a strong processor and plenty of ram memory it shouldn't be doing this to me at all , hell I have only 13 tracks recorded .

If I can't find a quick FIX I might have to delay recording this while I uninstall everything , sucks because its a weeks worth of work to get everything reinstalled and running smoothly again .
I was going to uninstall my XP professional earlier but decided to work on this song and finish it before starting on that uninstall and reinstall .

Anyway heres what I have been working on for four days or so , maybe with alittle luck I will figure whats going on with my computer so I can finished this song .

Great news for me ! I'm pretty sure I fixed my record & playback audio issue inside of Project 5 , I went in and messed around with my Project 5 AUDIO settings and then tried listening to my WIP song with tracks unfrozen and it wasn't breaking up on me .
Hopefully it will be smooth sailing to the finished line for this song , tommorrow I start working on the melody track for my NEW version of Neverland .

For the record please don't pay any attention to what Robby has to say , hes trying his best to trash me personally and this song I'm reworking .
The only thing hes trying to do is get others on this forum to follow him hoping everyone will not listen or comment on my music period .
Its ashame the man has to go around and BULLY people around who he doesn't like , theres plenty of medical help out there for him if hell just let the light in and realize hes not funny anymore .

Take a DEEP Breath Robby , its ok to seek medical help . Healing begins with you reaching out , please go get some help .
