NEW ORIGINAL "Antediluvian"

Hey everyone, here is a new original I have been working on for quite some time. My buddy Zoltan rocked the vocals and Alex tore up the solo. I did everything else. I hope you all enjoy it.

A bit too extreme for my taste at times but I think it is made with great skill.

Not my cup of tea, but interesting none the less.  I listened the whole way through.  I can tell much work and planning went into this.  I might be able to get into this type of music if I really took the time to listen to more of it.  You've given me a good sample of it here.

Thank you John.  You are right about a lot of work going into it.  Its a ton of fun to do collabs but takes a lot of work when your musicians are all over the world.

Nice to hear some heavier stuff around here.  I thought the mixing and sound was just great.  Wouldn't change a thing, very pro sounding and great playing all the way around.  Vocals are in tune and compliment the music well.  I get the feeling this is a 2 or 3 listen song to "get it", so I'm going to check this out in the morning too.  Great job on this, really.

Edit:  So yeah, your melodies are more obvious second time through and it sounds way better when you don't see the video.  Something about the video hides the fabulous musicianship of this, and maybe that's just the nature of video, but that's my story.  Again, totally kick ass song.

Full marks for energy and effort. Your drummer must be pretty tired! Vocals and guitars were really well mixed, and in a densely packed song like this, that's a real accomplishment.

I liked the slight interlude in the middle most of all. Good, thoughtful choices!

I'm not sure the video really helps the song, at least for me. It's a kick-ass video production with cool drone cameras and neat lightning effects! And it is VERY well edited - lots of cool cuts! I dunno, it might have been the grey color palette, just presenting the song without much "life" or energy. I don't think the energy in the video matches the energy of the song.  that's probably just me, and most thrashers are gonna love that video . . .

    cheers,
    -Tom

    wow. Pretty immense.
I'd love to hear it without the compression that YouTube videos seem to get. Is it posted anywhere else?

To be honest I have no idea what this style is but the song is well put together and really enjoyable!

This is a song that would be perfect as a theme for certain types of movie.  It's heavy but well mixed for the genre.  I'm glad you included the lyrics or I never would have had any idea what it was about.  The fact that your friends are scattered about makes it more impressive.

    All the best,

I love it. The song, lyrics, playing, production all blew me away.
The attitude and energy are awesome. The video fit perfectly.
For arts sake, no crits. Did you play those drums with fingers or were they loops? Doesn't matter 'cause I'm a drummer and those drums rocked.
    The solo blew me away.
    I say job well done.

The overall compression is high and even though the overall genre doesn't feature a lot of extreme low end, I felt you could use less mids, more low low's, and about 2 db less compression overall. Doesn't matter though, you guys hit this one out of the park!

Thanks a lot everyone. I really appreciate all of the feedback. Tom, the drummer is Matt Halperns Drum Sample library. My goal is to make it sound like a real drummer and hopefully I achieved that. Also the video reflects what the Antidiluvian is. Here is what it was "The Antediluvian (alternatively Pre-Diluvian or Pre-Flood, or even Tertiary) period (meaning "before the deluge") is the time period referred to in the Bible between the fall of humans and the Noachian Deluge (the Genesis Flood) in the biblical cosmology. The narrative takes up chapters 1–6 (excluding the flood narrative) of the Book of Genesis. The term found its way into early geology and lingered in science until the late Victorian era. Colloquially, the term is used to refer to any ancient and murky period.". My vocalist and I are writing a trilogy on those times.

Thanks a lot Rimshot. I mapped out those drums in Sonar. Love that Matt Halpern Sample set.
