NEW SONG: Waverley
Hi, I've got a new song made with SONAR X3e http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13017022It's got all the usual suspects: SONAR X3 Superior Drums (but this time with a "Metal Machinery" kit - even though this has nothing to do with Metal) Trilian Bass VB3 Hammond some Kontakt stuff and a real "analog" Stratocaster guitar (and a little bit of my new Telecaster) If you have a few minutes, Please let me know what you think... Thanks

Very nice song. I do not listen to jazz but this was well done.

I think I had a slow internet connection, sounded a little phasey in the upper range. Of what quality was the mp3 you uploaded? It might have been my internet. I am a big Joe Walsh fan, how about you? Your writing style seems to have a similar vibe, which I think is a total compliment. I liked the song, it had a fearless type of arrangement, I liked the second half even more than the first, but this is waaaay more rock than jazz in my opinion. Keep up the cool vibe!

Thanks a lot for listening - kakku and emeraldsoul. I never know what "category" to put these things in. I was going to call it "rock" or "pop rock" - but nowadays "jazz" and "jazz fusion" has a lot of sounds like this - as opposed to what I would call "jazz" ;-) I wish we didn't have to pick any category at all.... ;-) I like Joe Walsh. I'm old enough to remember having a "James Gang" album ;-) I can't say I consciously tried to write or sound like him - but all these things are stored somewhere in the back of your brain and they resurface when they feel like it. The MP3 should be fine - I had a lot of hits yesterday, and nobody has mentioned anything about the quality. Also, I checked it when I created it - and when I uploaded.

I wouldn't call this jazz, but I would call it well performed and produced. I like the change that starts around the 1:31 mark...some interesting stuff going on there...then it gets all Jeff Beck sounding! Awesome job.

Thanks a lot for the listen, and for the comments Clint! Somebody else mentioned Jeff Beck - that wasn't conscious, I just started going overboard with the whammy bar ;-) I just didn't want to sound too "normal" ;-)

It sounds quite well here, nice solid sounding mix, I would be tempted to bring some of the ear candy bits up a tad in the middle 8 section, but that is just my furry opinion. Thanks for sharing.

Love the tones in this tune....really caught my attention from the start....I enjoyed all the different textures you use. I could see me playing this in my regular iPod rotation when I ride my bike. I think this is one of the better tunes I've hear of late....weird enough to keep my intrested all the way through but has a great groove which glued it all together... A++ from my bro...

Thank you very much for that thepogue. If you pop me an email (can you do that by clicking on my avatar?) or a PM, I'll be happy to send you a mp3 for your ipod ;-) (I disabled the downloads on soundclick so I can try to flog CDs when I'm ready for the next CD. Of course I never actually "sell" CDs) ;-)

John, Really well done and a very enjoyable listen. I like all the different themes and effects throughout and the mix is really solid. Just a personal preference, I might add a little delay to the lead guitar that comes in at :23 and goes through around 1:33. It is fine as is but it would some more majesty and depth to that opening bit. Regards

Thanks a lot for listening Mark! And for the suggestion. I'll admit, I never considered putting a delay on that part - I'm thinking I'd have to be really careful with the tremolo going on too...

That was really nice, John. Great laid back feel, nice arrangement and tones throughout. Mix is clear and punchy. I like the cool FX you've added to "breakdown" section, and solo part coming out of it has some great changes.
