NI Guitar Rig 4 Pro

I bought this recently. The price was to good to pass up this month in the "Monthly Specials" section of the CW site.

I have had some pretty terrible experiences with Native Instruments Software. I bought Kontakt 2 when it was in ver. 2 and had nothing but trouble with it, so I was more than a little apprehensive about Guitar rig.

After spending a few minutes with it the other night ,one of my first impressions is that it seems to emulate most of the good amps and effects pretty well. I thought that setup could have been made a little more user friendly. It offers both 32 and 64 bit versions in the download. I thought they should have a backup plan in case you sent GR4 to the wrong folder and needed to change it. If you accidentally load it to the wrong folder then I'm not sure what you run into in changing that.Hopefully finding where it went and merely moving the plug would do it but who knows?

I understood that there were tons pre tailored sounds but when I opened up the GR4 page that these are on it seemed to be mostly empty. There may have only been 10 or 15 programs to choose from. So does anyone know how I can get to all of these sounds as advertised???

What has your experience been with GR4? Like it,hate it or in between somewhere?

    Not a bad plug.

    Not fabulous.

I used a bass patch on a CHB song (can't remember which one though).

What's the reason for opening it up in standalone as well as in Sonar?

NI stuff will not work as a plug until it's been run in standalone mode. It's an NI thing.

I have a few of NI's plugs (Battery, Prizm, Komplete7 Elements, and all the free ones), but never did this process before....interesting.

Do you need to have both running at the same time or is starting it in standalone just a one time thing?

I appreciate your heads up...... Never would have guessed...and had not intended to use stand alone mode any time soon.  Bapu I looked at the bass stuff in there too. Actually had a decent convincing tone on my strat copy 1st two strings.
