NI Password Problems... Help!!

Help!!

I'm trying to login to the Native Instruments Serice Center and to activate Kontakt Player 5, so I can use some new software... but I've forgotten my password :(

Not a big deal, I thought, but NI the 'forgotten password' email never gets recieved, NI don't respond to emails and to be honest I'm starting to get really p*ssed off... are they on holiday? In this day and age, I should get an instant email with a new password/reminder.

I'm assuming I can't uninstall everything and start again, due to other NI software I have (just GR4). I did try to register again, but it says I've already done so (even when I use a diff email).

Argh! Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Not much help from me, but I do feel your pain.  Dealing with NI is awful.

Are you able to look through old emails to find your password?  (I never delete an email for this very reason)

Another thing I do is put all of my passwords into Evernote  (evernote.com), a free "Keep track of random info" application which I highly recommend.

And ANOTHER thing I have started doing over the years--because passwords are so difficult to remember-- is use a program called Roboform to automatically sign into sites.  (There's an open source program called KeePass that also helps you keep track).

Your browser can keep track of passwords, but there are security issues with that if anyone else gets access to your computer.  Good luck!

Thanks for your response - You're right, I really shold sort my passwords out (thanks for the tips)... guess I got used to most companies having a instant/simple 'send you a new password' email.

Yep, had a look through my emails and did find the password and... it doesn't work, so I assume I changed it (as it just contained digits).

Found some sales/press emails for NI so contacted them... fingers x'd! :-S

    Thanks again.

You can actually call NI support and talk to a person.  I did it the other day and didn't even have to wait.

I didn't click the log me in automatically... d'oh! mind you, still wouldn't have known...

Argh!!!! NI have just sent me new passwords! They don't work!!! They took 3 hours to get to me... trouble is, they obviously get deleted once you make another request for one... and who knows how many times I kept clicking the send password buttone thinking it was screwed... :(

NI if your reading this sort out your password system!!!!!!!!!

(Ok, yes, I shouldn't have forgotten it)

Well, I'll probably reveive about 10+ password emails eventually... guess I might get to use something by next week :(

NI can be very slow. I also forgot my login password once, and got their mail almost 6 hours later. So I am afraid you have to be patient. However - if you did not get anything within 24 hours it would be advisable to contact consumer support. Oh - and yourolpal - If you configure the service center to log in automatically, you wont be asked for a password.

I'm usually patient, but the NI system has wound me up... grr!

3rd password received and still no joy, so looks like I'm right about each request voiding the previous one. :(

It's going to be a long night...

I requested several times & got the emails about 20 minutes later. Works fine,
just make sure to use the pw for the last submitted recovery request.

had 7 so far and the latest one doesn't work... so got to wait until some more come through, assuming I did request more than 7 - hopefully I did, otherwise nothing will work! The first one took 3 hours to get to me... so who knows if/when I receive any more :-S

Looks like i'm sorted now... waited a further 3 hours and received no more passwords, so tried to send another 'forgotten password' email to myself, and hey presto it came through straight away and... worked! Go figure.

    Thanks for your replies :)

fawlty - do yourself a favor and record your passwords now. I have a simple Word Doc that I back up and save to a USB flash drive AND my other computer each month that has about 60 username\passwords including the email I have reg'd with each of them. As soon as you register with & log onto a site, go & save your info right away before you forget. It's now a simple habit for me after forgetting a bunch of them years ago. There's also a free option on FireFox now, that if you don't remember it, but it shows up as the 'black dots' in the password box, you can hover your mouse over it & it will show you what you have typed in there. This is handy to setup your new list of existing passwords that are still good to go, but you might have forgotten what you've entered.
