I got the announcement email this morning. Downloaded the product, fooled around with it a bit and love it! I also have VIR2 Acou6tic, but it seem better suited for lead as opposed to strumming. (Okay but not as good as Strummed Acoustic from the little I've used it so far.)

I'm still on the line with this one. Wish there were some video demos. For those that have it, can you make your own patterns or are you stuck with what they provide. It seemed to be mostly Rock and Country genre.

Saw this, interested. Was thinking of getting the AGT Taylor from Amplesound, but was a little put off by some negativity on the forum regarding midi delay.

anyone with the Amplesound want to chime in? Anyone with both? Early days yet I know, for comparing.

I have the entire Amplesound collection and they do sound Great. You might need to nudge the finished midi track back around 30-50ms but not a big deal and a simple task for Sonar.

Look intresting but I will wait on this one. I am hoping Greg of Orange Tree will add his new strum engine as an update to Steel Strings. Then I will be sorted. The strum engine in Stratosphere is so intuitive and versatile.

Saw this too this morning and listened...Agree with last couple posts... both OT and Ample have exquisite sounds...I too have all of each (cept stratosphere!) I have pretty much mothballed all my NI stuff but for Kontakt... The strings are just cheesy sounding and I imagine the same for this.  Looking back I spent oooodles on Session Strings Pro, Action Strings, and other things that now sit idle...and when small developers like OT are putting out superior products...

Glyn, Greg says a port of new engine will happen.  He's done this on all his "guitarZ" before...last time  think it took a 2 or 3 months to port it to others when Strawberry came out... and I agree, the new engine is sweet!

I've been playing around with it this morning. It sounds great and all but as far as I can see you can't use your own patterns.
It's not MIDI based like RealGuitar. I think it has over a hundred recorded patterns played by a very good guitarist which would explain the ~8GB download.

I'll use it, but I guess I'm a bit underwhelmed.

Actually it is both a MIDI based instrument and a sequencer. For the MIDI portion you can of course record chords and it will strum along. You can also control many sound parameters with MIDI CC (control changes) to modify the sound during the song.
It is also a 16 step sequencer to control when a strum will be produced. The 102 different recorded patterns can each be modified in the "Info Panel, Pattern Tab" by modifying the tempo, Start Shift, and End Stop Times.

I think it is great when you need a subtle strumming guitar background that is simple to set up with a nice sound.

Have been playing around with this application, I have an immediate need for a song I'm working on. I used Acou6tic guitar but I'm not happy with the results.

I found that not only can you modify the 102 patterns that are already set up, but you can store them in the patterns section and call them up in Sonar. Not only change patterns, but tempo (multiples of Sonar's tempo), change the pattern so it fits 3/4, 4/4, etc.

Thanks, I will certainly be passing in that case, at least for the time being. IMHO Orange Tree's Stratosphere strum engine sets the bar for versatility and an intuitive interface, and that engine will be used in a free update to their acoustic package "Steel Strings" which I already own.
