NI Session Horns vs Pro
Literally, the difference between something that sounds like an accordion and something that sounds like horns. Even with my crappy ear, articulation makes a huge difference.

Tom, do you have the basic four-horn version? I was SO hoping that would be good enough ($99). But after listening to the Pro demo, I'm not sure.

The Pro gives you the ability to program each horn separately, which can add a lot of realism. More work, yes, but if you don't want to sound fake ... Cheers, Eddie

Session Horns is a pile of poo in my opinion - I have tried to use them on soooo many occasions and ended up moving on - they sound so fake and cheesy. Is there really that much of a step up with the Pro version? I would like to get a decent Kontakt Horn Section.....or any other recommendations?

Yep, those Session Horns are a bit cheesy. Not bad though depending on how they're used . Check out Sample Modeling or Chris Hein. Also Project SAM just released their SWING lib. & Straight Ahead Samples is releasing Straight Ahead! Jazz Horns later in May.

I have the Symphonic Orch Gold. Gonna have to mess with that. To date I've really only used the Fab Four stuff. In my composers collection I have Ra, Goliath, Gypsy, Ministry of Rock, Choirs Platinum, And Voices of Passion. Too many libraries, not enough time.

I use my Mojo Horns mostly. But I still think one of the best packages ever put out was First Call Horns...which is still available. They are the precursors to Mojo and still sound better IMHO.

I personally like session horns. I use them mostly for sustained chords though. It's not easy to program convincing complex horn lines without it sounding fake, I agree.

There's Kirk Hunter's Concert Brass II. Once in a while he has a sale - like 50% off. I believe there's a summer and a winter sale that he has. I know I've seen 2 sales over the last year or so. http://www.kirkhunterstud.../products_cbrs_ii.html
