I'm guessing yes, at 15 minutes if it works like Kontakt Player.

I can confirm the demos time out, there appears to be no way to regester them and no serial numbers were provided. You need to buy it for it to be of any use.

I downloaded them all, and have been testing them this evening. Kind of a mixed bag. They are pretty basic, but with some nice features and a pretty nice overall sound (for most of them, anyway). I like the Ensemble Strings, which sound good and have a full set of basic articulations. Don't like the strings repetition/ostinato tool -- sounds way too mechanical (there doesn't seem to be a particularly deep pool of round robins for the short articulations). The sustains have a wide dynamic range, and I found it pretty easy to get a realistic dynamic arc with the mod wheel. Woodwinds are quite nice - maybe the best overall sound. In particular, the Solo Woodwinds sound excellent, and have a surprisingly full set of articulations, including double-tongue, swell, sfz, crescendos and decrescendos. I'm not liking the brass libraries at all, so far. I've just started messing around with them, but to my ears they sound wooly and indistinct. Also, the legato transitions are kind of swoopy, and just seem rather artificial. They do have some nice articulations -- double-tongue, swells, etc. The Ensemble Brass seems more useable than the Solo Brass. I really don't care much for the sound of the Solo Brass library at all. I'm glad I downloaded them, though. They are worth checking out, and there is definitely some useful stuff in them, although they wouldn't stand a chance of supplanting any of my current goto libraries. I will probably try and see how the different libraries mesh together. Maybe the brass ones sound better when in context with the string and woodwind libraries.

Amicus, thanks for the detailed overview. Can I ask what your current go-to orchestral libraries are? Cheers, Eddie

Well, I swear by Albion One -- simply a first class library in every way, and the first thing I load up when I start a new project. I also make heavy use of the Hollywood Orchestra Gold libraries (even though I don't enjoy using Play and find it to be unstable and a bit clumsy). In particular, the Hollywood Brass solo instruments are, IMHO, really nice sounding. I find the legato patches very convincing. I also use Sonokinetic's Grosso and Da Capo libraries, although they are both a distant third choice.

That's my orchestral set up as well, more or less. Albion One, Hollywood Orchestra with Solo strings and Embertone's Intimate Strings bundle. Plus a bit of Garritan on the side.

I downloaded just the string ensembles. It came as an ISO. I extracted the installer and library files from the ISO, but it refused to run, scolding me to "Please run this installer from the original DVD". So that was a mistake. After mounting the ISO, though, the install was successful. (WARNING: don't get impatient and click through all the prompts; it defaults to c:\users\{you}\documents, which probably isn't where you want it.) If you like simple, you'll like this. Not a lot of controls, but the big one in the middle, labeled "Dynamics" does a lot. It doesn't skimp on articulations, though. The 8 key-switchable articulations are the ones you're most likely to need. And the sound is top-notch! They say the demo has fewer samples and fewer articulations, but I compared the articulations to those listed for the full product and they seem to be the same. Note that this demo version times out after 15 minutes, even when running under full Kontakt. You then have to restart Kontakt to get another 15 minutes. If you want to buy the full version (strings only), it'll set you back $199. If you want the whole collection with all the bells 'n whistles, it's 500 bucks.
