Nailed it this time.

 
This latest version of Steven Stills' Word Game seems to be the heaviest vibe I've heard on a radio in a while:

I was sleeping in a van traveling out on the interstate after a 16 hour shift... woke up and asked "who the heck is this?"

    Now that I have the SoundHound app on my phone I no longer wonder who someone is when I hear a song playing.  I just click on the app and usually it not only tells me the artist and song, but it often streams the lyrics in time to the music as well (not that I care about that).
     
    Very cool stuff!

    I sort of gave up on radio when I got tired of hearing a new (to me) song and then waiting for the DJ come on to identify the songs and artists they just played and instead they'd just be goofing around and never ever mention it. I'm like, "That's your only real function for being and you aren't bothering to do it. Really?".

    'Tis why I had the station's phone number memorized as a kid.  Boy did they get to know me! 
     
    Which turned into good things when I became 21, because one station (KGB 101 in San Diego) would use me to bring people to places they were going to be.  We were like planted cheerleaders and got rewarded with free drinks on the company business card by their head DJ (Michael Berger) and were frequent swag winners (when they would sweep the parking lot looking for KGB bumper stickers which, naturally, me and my friends would sport on our cars - I got some great things this way).  The best was winning $1,015 and being part of a "half-time" spectacle during a monster truck event.  One friend won the grand prize of a killer ATV and another, the second place prize of free tickets and airfare to see Bruce Springsteen in concert (I got the third place prize I wanted so I was happy - a fourth friend got the same as me).  Actually, there's a lot more to this monster truck story - hillarious stuff suitable for another day!  I guess we could have won tricked out cars and trucks as well, because we were always given keys, but none of them ever started the vehicles...

    I gave up on radio when I got sick of them talking over guitar solos.
