Naming MP3's to show up on car stereo when streaming

Hi,

Anyone know how to export/render your songs in Sonar to MP3s such that the artist and song titles show up on your bluetooth screens in your cars? Sometimes I see maybe the song title or the artist but never all the info I thought I included when rendering from Sonar. FYI I use the built-in "export" which leads me to an ID3 Info page (lame 3.99) where I enter the song title and artist but they just don't show up in my car stereo.

Thanx Frederick

The issue is likely what fields the car media player is programmed to display and in what order.  Most automotive displays are set up to display two 16 character fields.  That is because they are following the RDS standard established for radio.  More information about RDS is available here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Data_System

You may have to encode the MP3 file with metadata (title, album, etc.) when creating it in order for your car audio to read it.  I don't use Cakewalk/SONAR to create MP3's so I don''t know if it does that.  I think you can do it in Windows Media Player or Pyro.

Cakewalk (forever), Two WIN10 64-bit DAWs: home-brew ASRock x299 Taichi / i7 7820x w/ 64GB RAM and ASUS X99A-II / i7-5820K w/ 32GB RAM, ZOOM UAC 8, Mackie ONYX 1640i FW Mixer/Interface, Mackie ONYX 1200F, Avalon U5 PreAmp, NI Komplete 11 Ultimate, EastWest Composer CloudX, Yamaha MOTIF XS8, Ensoniq SD-1 and ESQ-1, Korg M1rEX, Yamaha TX-81Z, Roland D110, Line6 HELIX Rack and Native, POD HD-Pro, POD Farm 2.5, Yamaha NS-10 and Presonus Eris E8 monitors, Yamaha Disklavier Upright Piano, mics, guitars, basses, and the cutest little tambourine.

Yes, or simply with windows explorer try to look at the properties of the particular file and see if the fields with name, artist etc. are populated.

I don't remember very weill but probably there are ID3 v1 and ID3 v2 tags ... and probably with some software not both tag types are written into the file.

Otherwise, for sure, Mp3Tag (or similar software) will do the job.
    Bye,

I use Win Explorer or Sound Forge to enter the data.

Win 10 Pro x64, 32Gb DDR3 ram, Sonar Platinum, Cubase 9.5, Mackie MCU Pro, Cakewalk VS 100, Roland Octa-Capture,  A 800 Pro, Carver M-1.5t amp & C4000 pre amp, various mics, drums and brass instruments.

Both my cars and my getto blaster show the data no problem, I use Gold Wave to convert from Wave to MP3. But not sure the encoder matters.

Depending on your player, it may just use the folder name and the file name, for example:

    Folder: Dave's Album
    Filename: My New Song.mp3

    Dave
    Computer: Intel i7, ASROCK H170M, 16GB/5TB+, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Sonar Platinum, TASCAM US-16x08, Cakewalk UM-3G MIDI I/F
Instruments: SL-880 Keyboard controller, Korg 05R/W, Korg N1R, KORG Wavestation EX
Axes: Fender Stratocaster, Line6 Variax 300, Ovation Acoustic, Takamine Nylon Acoustic, Behringer GX212 amp, Shure SM-58 mic, Rode NT1 condenser mic.
Outboard: Mackie 1402-VLZ mixer, TC Helicon VoiceLive 2, Digitech Vocalist WS EX, PODXTLive, various stompboxes and stuff.
Controllers: Korg nanoKONTROL, Wacom Bamboo Touchpad

    I use media monkey.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

    Mp3tag IS a great program that's available for free.  That's what I use for my MP3s.  https://www.mp3tag.de/en/
