NanoKontrol Setup with Sonar

I've been trying to set this up and I'm apparently not doing it right......I installed the latest Korg-Midi drivers and also the software for the controller (oddly, the controller software doesn't recognize the NanoKontrol, but Sonar sees it).

I follwed a setup tip from Gamma Goblin as well as Nanokontrol setup, but when setting up in Cakewalk's Generic Surface, just trying to get the fader to move does not work (all I see is the meter moving up and then immediately dropping down....this aslo happens if I turn a knob on the Kontroller). The fader in Sonar doesn't move. I verified again that I had the correct driver and it is the latest version.

I thought YouTube might have something with Sonar, but it doesn't.......(are there any other videos online showing this?) I'm stumped!!!

I know this should be easier than I'm making it...any detailed tips (for a complete newbie) would be appreciated.

Thanks,

If I remember correctly, (not on my DAW atm),

Click controller surfaces
make sure the input port is Nano kontrol.

After checking the midi controller input,
check the controller/surface options, and change the preset to nano kontrol (or whatever you named it)

I've had some problems with nano kontrol, as sometimes after restart, different settings are loaded.

Hope this helps

Hi Janne,
The problem was exactly as you put it....I missed this obvious step "make sure the input port is Nano kontrol".
Thank you so much and appreciate the help all the way from Finland!!!

I just set mine up a few days ago following the untidymusic.com link in the OP. I  did the transport through the 'Cakewalk Generic Surface' as I couldn't get the loop button to work through the ACT MIDI controller.

The other thing I couldn't figure out was how to save the Master bus as part of the profile. Doing it per project using the Remote Control function seems to work, so if anyone has an idea how to template that I would like to know.

I bought one of these as well the other day and I love it. I used both Gamma Goblins and untidymusic.com to get it set up. I then messed around with it a bit more, and I now have it controlling all my console, busses and master. I have also got it to work with all my plug-ins as well.
To set it up with the console I used the generic surface to set up 8 channels with fader, pan and mute solo. I then used the mute/solo buttons on the nanokontrol channel 9 set then to forward/backward "bank", so I can select any channel I want. I also set up the play and stop buttons.
I then opened up ACT and selected Scene 2 on the Nano, set up the rew/fwd buttons to skip forward/back to next marker, and set the loop button to "next group" which then lets you select between channels busses and the master. The only drawback is that cannot get the mute/solo buttons to work on the busses and master.
I then set the channel one mute button to "ACT enable". this way when it is selected I can use the knobs and faders to control my plug-ins. And to get these set up, I opened up a plug-in and the ACT midi controller screen, clicked learn on every rotary and slider, move said rotary and slider so they were linked. Then I opened the plug-in GUI, enabled ACT learn, clicked on all the knobs and sliders, then moved the Nano knobs and sliders in the same order , it then gives you a meesage saying waht you have done and hey presto it works.

So now if I want to change channel gain, mute solo and pan I select scene 1, and use channel 9's mute/solo buttons to scroll through the banks (eight at a time).
Then  I can select scene 2 and hit the loop button and scroll through channel, bus and master and control gain and pan.
Then I can bring up a plug-in, hit channel 1's mute button and have control of that.

I hope this makes sense?
