you can trial true pianos and see what you think..

I have the NI ones (but they might do em as Kore packs now), which I like but I use the reason ones a lot (but that for reason owners)

is there a specific model of piano your after? I mean I have grands and uprights.. so that comes into it as well

depends on your budget partly and your pc spec.

PC is an Intel wolfdale 3.0 ghz, W7 x32 ( I could move to X64) with 4gb ram installed and another 2gb sitting on my desk since x32 will not address it.

I am recording conservative traditional gospel music - a piano with anything from a solo to a quartet, so I am looking for an authentic sound, like a Steinway, or something along that line.

In the Cakewalk Instruments (well, not strictly Cakewalk, but bundled with Sonar PE) True Pianos is the best. The full version is worth the upgrade from the bundled version. It's what I use.

Alternatives - What's your budget? There is a shed load of stuff out there. Some people speak highly of Quantum Leap Pianos which weighs in a $495. Also check out offerings from Native Instruments, Garratan, East West and Galaxy.

I have Kontakt and a few others..... Ivory is nice.  I guess it's all in your perception. What I like and think sounds good might be nauseating to you. So poke around the net and listen to the samples.
