Need Help assigning sounds to MIDI keyboard

The problem is in the title, I need help assigning sounds to the 8 pads on the keyboard and I was also wondering if it was possible to assign sounds to the actual keyboard too.

Hello and welcome to the forum.  It will help us formulate a response by having some basic details about your setup.

What version of Music Creator are you using?
What brand and model keyboard are you using?
Are you connecting the keyboard's audio, midi, or both to your computer?
What is your computer interface for audio and midi connections?

With all that in mind, are you wanting to have your version of Music Creator play specific wave files each time you press specific keys on your keyboard?  In other words, are you wanting to use Music Creator as a sample player?

Thanks for answering so quickly.

From a web search I learned the Alesis V49 is a USB powered midi controller with 49 keys, 4 assignable buttons, 4 rotary encoders, modulation and expression wheels, and 8 touchpads.  The keys and touchpads are velocity sensitive.

I do not believe Music Creator 7 is designed to play samples in real time however there is a good chance I'm wrong and someone will jump in and correct me (I hope  ).  All is not lost though.

You may be able to set up eight tracks, insert a sample player on each track, load a waveform into each sampler, play each track continuously and use the touchpad to control track volume or the mute/unmute function.

Going to need a sampler. For a good freeware sampler plug-in see http://www.tx16wx.com/

scook,

Thanks for the sampler recommendation.  I've never used one so I didn't have one to recommend.  That looks like a nice one so I downloaded the 32 bit version to play around with.

Hi, I'd like to say there's also Matrix View. You can use 'MIDI learn' on a cell to assign a keyboard key. : )
