Need advice for a dual boot configuration

I was originally running WinXP SP3 on my DAW.
I installed Win7x64 on another partition and now have a dual boot configuration.
Is it wise or necessary to hide my XP boot partition from Win7 and hide my Win7 boot partition from XP?
Not sure if it would screw things up if I didn't.
My total move to Win7 will be a slow one and I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row.

There are potential problems with deleting restore points from one system on booting another.

Hello... How were you going to hide them from each other? If they are on the same hardrive?

I've got two SATA hardrives... one has my original XP and Cakewalk 32 files loaded on it.. the other Win7 64 and Cakewalk 64.. I can boot up either operating system by pressing F12 during the computer startup BIOS screen... I have all my older files and programs intact... in other words, what I did is bought a new hard drive when I bought Win 7... I can access files and programs from my XP drive in WIN7... and I can access files and programs from the Win7 drive in XP.

I hid my XP disk partition/drive from Win7 by physically disconnecting it before I loaded Win7 64 on the new Hardrive... everything works great together.

FWIW, It's not necessary to hide the WinXP partition from Win7.
The only time I've ever had trouble with a dual-boot system was when using a boot-management app to hide partitions (this was years ago).

I have the same configuration, WinXP and Win7-64 dual boot, and everything is working very smoothly. If it's working for you too, there's no reason to mess with it.

Not to agitate, Gustabo, but dual booting has been cumbersome for me (for reasons you mention).

IMHO, I encourage you to trust Win7 for most stuff, now.  Maybe have a backup Sonar computer instead ... for certain VSTs/Synths ... until you bounce them.  (A cold-turkey switch may mean bouncing all your tracks to wave-forms on temp projects or such.)

I dove into Win7 9 months ago with about 20 projects ... and had everything *working* by God's grace ... and a lot more, FWIW.

OTOH, if you have strictly 32bit Sonar programs ... you could opt to run them in 32-bit Sonar (on the Win7-64 platform) ... no problem, IIRC.
