Need advice for quickly changing snap settings for workflow improvement

Hello all -

Trying to improve my workflow in X1 in this area:

In older versions, I would  press "SHIFT-N" more than anything in the whole program and a little box would pop up near my mouse and I would select my snap settings and note values. I also had my pattern of tab and space bars motions memorized.

Is there anyone else that used this a lot and has adapted their workflow? Looking for advice.

SHIFT-F12 only allows you to change the move-to or move-by options . . . . plus I have to take my right hand off of the mouse.  SHIFT-N was elegantly situated between pinky and pointer finger.

By the way, the quantize pop-up box is still the same, but the snap pop-up box is gone.

Just to clarify . . . not complaining . . . . willing to learn . . . . just need advice!   Please, no snarky responses! I'm a reasonable fellow.

I believe you can use screensets for this purpose. Set a different snap setting in each one, then swap using 1, 2, 3 etc.

    Cheers, Peter.

You can change Shift+F12 to Shift+N in the key bindings, if you'd like.

In addition, you can create key bindings for each of the snap resolutions. Look for the word Snap in the key bindings function list.

Thanks for the advice . . . I do appreciate it.

I'm just looking for more on-the-fly changes as I work with a group of clips or notes.

Maybe series of keystrokes to change the snap values.

Previous comment was a reply to Peter; again, thanks.

    Next: Hi Scott -
    As always, excellent advice.

I know I can change the key bindings, although I'd like to adapt to the existing ones as much as possible with the thought that they match the intended workflow.

SHIFT-F12 (or if I change it to SHIFT-N) is not the same, however as the old SHIFT-N.

Is there advice for adapting my workflow so that I can have in one place my "move-to/by" and "value". I often want to change them back and forth (by/to) and also value.

I think your key bindings for the snap value is the best advice for now. I will give that a try.

Just made SHIFT-1, whole note, SHIFT-2 half note and so on.

I actually think this is an improvement.

When the X1b update is released, you will be able to switch between move-to/by with a key binding.

Wait . . . those key bindings work in PRV and track view, but not in staff.

Is that a bug that will be fixed in X1b?
