Need advice:

Hey. I am first time beginner. I don't know the terms for the things I want to do, or even how to do them yet. But I do know how it should sound. Does anyone know any links that could help a beginner learn the terminology and basics? Also, I am really interested in beats. I love hip hop and breaks. One of my favorite parts of breaks is the drum roll buildup and the bass drop that follows. Where can I find a program or effect for Kinetic to make my beats build up and drop? Thanx for ur help
