Need help - Dimension LE or Rapture?

Need help deciding which Virtual Synthesizer I should purchase. Dimension LE or Rapture. This will be my first Virtual Synthesizer, so I’m looking for something that’s user friendly. I using Guitar Tracks Pro 4 as DAW with Studio Instruments as virtual instrument interface. I also have a M-Audio 48 key midi keybord controller.

thanks

As always, it depends.  What kind of music do you do?  If it needs synth-style sounds, Rapture is the answer.  If you are doing any type of electro sounds, Rapture is your ticket.  It is hard for me to judge how user friendly it is since I've been doing synthesis for more years than I like to count, but if you think of it as a 6-voiced syhth you have a single page for each.  Not bad.

DimLE is pretty much a playback only synth.  Not much to learn and little to change.  You mostly deal w/ presets.  DimPro has the same look as Rapture w/ only 4 pages, or elements as Cake calls them.  I'm not sure about DimLe since I don't use it (I have the Pro) version, but there are a lot of acoustic sounds - basses, orch, guitars and some keys.  Rapture actually has more (and better) organs than Dim, if that means anything to you.

    Hello AT

Thanks for the info. Most of the singer/songwriters I record play acoustic/classic rock style. That being said I'm looking to branch out with a more modern sound for more modern style singer/songwriters. I listened to some of the RM101 stuff you recorded, those synth sounds were tasty. I really appreciated the clarity of the vocals, what kind of vocal mic are you using? I really liked the song "Indulgences" good stuff

Thanks for the listen.  Vocals are mostly by an Oktava 319.  I used to use a firepod, but have moved up to a TC Konnect, tho most of the songs were done on the FP.

Cake includes the DimensionPro w/ their producer version - which might be a cheap way to get it.  And once you are in the Cake family they run deals - I think Rapture was for sale for $99 not to long ago.  Like I said, if you need more acoustic sounding stuff DimPro is better suited.  For more synthy sounds, Rapture has a lot of presets that you can easily tweak.  And there are a lot of patches for it @ Patcharena.com, including the Museum selection for free, which would cost a bundle.  A bunch of early synth sounds.
