Not sure why you want an internal card - at $900, you have a wide range od external devices. Cheers..Grif

Look in SONAR X1 support and find the hardware recommendation page. They have a huge listing of sound cards that are recommended along with the limitations an capabilities of each of them, but in the 900 range, you should be able to get pretty much whatever you want! Good luck!
When one is doing the process of self-analysis, One should make sure that the Self that is doing the analysis is, in fact, sane. Sonar X3 (always patched to current) Win7X64 8gb RAM Quad Core AMD 3.6mhz TASCAM USB interface EMU 1616m PCIe interface w/breakout Rapture, Dimension Pro, Studio Instruments, Zeta 2, tons more of Cakewalk's software Tons of IK, NI Camel Audio and other softsynths, plugins M-Audio Keystation Pro 88

I need an internal card cause I use a Logitech z5500 for my computers speakers. Any suggestions would be good, I checked the help file and it doesn't give NAMES of products on the market. That is what I am asking. What are some of you guys using as far as sound cards? Give me product names please. Thanks.

RexCarrollRocks I need an internal card cause I use a Logitech z5500 for my computers speakers. forgive my ignorance, but "so what?" how does that translate to requiring you to need an internal soundcard? regardless of internal or external you should still be able to connect computer speakers up to an output on the soundcard provided you have an adapter to match the (probably) 1/8" plugs on the logitech speakers. I just don't understand how an internal soundcard will be different unless you're thinking that internal soundcards have 1/8" outputs? if that's what you're thinking then that's not necessarily correct and it's NOT correct if you are wanting a "recording" soundcard - which I think you are. most "recording" soundcards for a budget of near $900 will have 1/4" balanced LINE inputs and possibly some MIC inputs and maybe even some 1/4" instrument inputs. but they won't likely have 1/8". for that price range look at the RME and MOTU units. I have some soundcard recommendations on my website, but most of the recommendations I have are for much more "entry" level units, I don't have much, if any, listed for that much of a budget.

Well I have never owned any sound card that was not internal so thats why i was asking for an internal one. Bottom line is I was a good one whether its internal or whatever. If anyone is able to name some good ones for me I would appreciate that? What are you all using for your sound cards? -

The Roland Octa-Capture has eight discreet outputs, so you can use it to mix in SONAR in 5.1 (up to 7.1, actually). However, there are no pro audio interfaces that support playback of encoded surround audio (Dolby Digital, DTS, like what hear on DVDs, Blu-rays, video games, etc. SP

Internal? The Lynx L22 comes to mind, tho it is only 2X2 - but you can add an adat interface to it. It comes in (w/ ADAT expansion card) to $900. Some of the old Echo products were PCe slots, I think. Might check Echo out. But I would really rethink the internal route. The Roland unit, the Steinberg/Yamaha one would be good USB/FW interfaces. The TC Konnekt 48 does surround w/ all the necessary sub managment internally, but it FW. @

And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

I am a casual, but long term, user of Sonar, and I life the price/performance of Presonus Firestudio series interfaces. I have used the Firestudio Project, Mobile, and I also have a StudioLive 16:4:2. First two will certainly be in budget, although you will need a Firewire card (cheap) i you don't have one. Cheers Grif

I've got an RME Multiface II w/PCIe card and it would use much of your piggy bank ... and you'd never regret buying it. I've also got a MOTU 896 w/Firewire, and I find the PCIe much more staable and dependable. I've had some other FW and USB interfaces; I definitely prefer the PCIe interface.

Lots of choices - I'd recommend looking into into RME, MOTU and Presonus. Depending on the details of what you want - several models from each manufacturer will likely fit the bill - take a look at their websites to determine which models best suit your needs (e.g. type of I/O you need, etc)

I am happy with my Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 - and it's a USB device.
