Need help with COPY/PASTE

Hello,

Instead of playing a midi bass riff over and over all the way through the song, PASTE is used.  If the riff ends exactly before the bar line, the paste sounds right.  If a note of the riff overlaps the measure bar line, the paste sounds wrong.  The riff doesn't flow from bar to bar smoothly.

Using PUNCH chops a bass riff to an exact bar length, but the last note of the riff is chopped off.   The piece of chopped note at the end doesn't blend to the matching piece at the beginning of the next measure.  The note sounds twice, like two notes are played, instead of the one.

How are overlapping transitions pasted correctly?

thanks,

Wadrum

Kind of sounds like the bass riff just doesn't lend itself musically to being repeated. Overlapping MIDI clips will play sound-on-sound just as if you repeated the performance yourself. Groove Clip Looping won't change that. A couple of screenshots from the PRV showing how it pastes by default, and how you would edit it to sound the way you want might help clarify the issue.
